Does any one know of a PAYG sim only deal that does not require a regular top up. I need a standard Sim that I can put money on but not have to top up once a month and where the credit or top up is only used when a call is made and stays there until needed.

All the networks have PAYG with no top up.

The caveat is that you have to make a chargeable action at least once every x months (x usually being between 3 and 6 months). A chargeable action is to make a call, send a text, use some data, or top up (some even allow incoming calls to count).

You could use Voda, O2, EE, Virgin (who are quite expensive for calls/texts) or any of the other MVNOs like Giffgaff, Delight, Lyca, Asda, Sainsburys, Tesco etc.

Thanks for the information but have had difficulty finding those details on their websites, they all seem to come up with monthly top ups. However have just found the ideal thing on Asda Mobile with a free sim, 8p per call and 4p per text which is ideal for an emergency phone for an elderly relative.

Have you seen the comparison table here. On Three's 321 PAYG, it's 3p a min. Less than half the price of Asda's 8p a min.

Thanks cooler, another I missed, I obviously didn't look hard enough. As it is only for an emergency contact phone for an elderly person call cost isn't really an issue, signal is more important and most networks seem good in the area.
