The Data Sense app on my phone reckons I have used 2.5GB of mobile data in the last month compared to nearly 5GB of wi-fi data.

But the My O2 app on my phone reckons I have used just 18MB of mobile data which seems an unlikely small amount. But it does also say "Left until 6 Aug 2015 - Unlimited" so does the 18MB mean only what I have used in the past couple of days which is possible as I have not done any mobile streaming or downloading or even web browsing in that time as I have been mostly at home or connected to public wi-fi hotspots.

So your mobile sees that you have used 2.5GB in the last 30 days, and O2 sees that you have used 18MB in the last 2 days. Your O2 data has refreshed, like it would every 30 days, you just need to get your app to refresh in line with your O2 refresh date.

Ta for confirming my understanding. I don't there is a way of getting Data Sense to line up with the O2 info as it is a rolling 30 days. It is of little consequence anyway as I am on an unlimited mobile data package for a fiver a month.

Some would say using that much data on O2 would be an achievement on its own ...

But not for me as long as I stay out of the dead spot in the villages south of here when streaming radio or iPlayer or downloading podcasts.

I have the Lumia 640 and if I go into all settings and then select data sense, not go through the app itself, it allows me to reset the limit.

It is not the limit I am bothered about (I have it set to unlimited). It is the way it measures over a rolling 30 day period rather being able to set it to measure from the same fixed day of the month as the O2 measurement is done.

Actually having both measurements is useful information. Just have to wait until the 6th August to see if the two are directly comparable.

Hi,

Perhaps I have misunderstood you but you can set it to whatever date you like. I have mine set to a fixed date to coincide with my bundle I purchased. The measurement is usual maybe 1 mb different at the end of this period.

There is no date setting on the Data Sense app on my phone.

(Edit: Because I have it set to Unlimited)

Edit: Just tried setting it to Monthly with a notional limit of 10GB with a reset date of the 6th of the month and the figure agrees with that reported by the My O2 app. Now changed it back to Unimited.
