Black Diamond = Mitsubishi?
What is the situation with Black Diamond TV sets? I seem to remember Mitsubishi pulled out of the UK with their audio/visual equipment a few years back so I’m just guessing that someone bought the rights to the name. As far as I can see there is no actual Mitsubishi badge on the sets [just Black Diamond] but they are being advertised as Mitsubishi sets.
Anyone have any info on this because I’m in the market for a new TV and apart from anything else, I don’t believe Mitsubishi would have their sets at such a low price point and exclusively at Powerhouse [in Scotland anyway]. Thanks |

I believe that Scottish Power simply purhcased the right to use this name. I don't think Mitsubishi have any connection any more.
As you say, they pulled out from the UK market a few years back, and closed their scottish TV plant. I'd avoid them personally as few TV repairers (other than Powerhouse repair facility) will have access to spares or service data meaning problems if you need it repaired in a few years time. |

Thanks for the info... I thought that might be the case. The Black Diamond sets definitely don’t have the same simple yet high quality style that real Mitsubishi sets had.
What do you think about the AV28WFT1 from JVC. As far as I know the set has just been discontinued [so it’s cheap ] but it has all the features I need.

I know that the BD TV's are not manufactured by Mitsubishi but are pumped outta factories and rebranded like Goodmans, Bush, etc.
And I would recommend the JVC. I have the cheaper version which doesn't have the flatscreen or BBE but all the other functions. Good set and easy to use. The 3 Scart sockets at back of telly are handy along with phonos at front. |

The four AV inputs [three Scart and one RCA/S-VHS] are a major bonus for me because I’m using splitters and Scart switchers with my current set that only has two inputs. I also hate bad geometry so a totally flat screen and options to adjust it is another plus. Every JVC set I have ever used had a quality feel and appearance and this one was no different

Damn right... took delivery of an AV28WFT1EKS from Empire Direct this morning
Looks great and not only does it have 4 AV inputs, but you can switch the feeds about and pass through the AV1 signal to AV2 etc. I have been able to ditch 3 Scart leads and a Scart splitter
