It is syrupy and ridiculously hypocritical. Lennon was full of clichés throughout the seventies, but managed to make a few good songs out of them. This isn't one. Twee, wooly and fluffy, it symbolises all that was wrong about the man.

The Proclaimers - 500 miles - I might be Scottish but I absolutely hate that song.

It's been played to death, though. I'd rather listen to "Instant Karma!" or "(Just Like) Starting Over" anyday.

Also, I know a lot of people love the Doors' music, but I don't care for "Light
My Fire" - I prefer the José Feliciano version.

I love greenday as I've mentioned before but another overrated song is Basket Case . I much prefer Minority , when I come around and Waiting from that era .

she also stole the guitar riff from Jack and Diane by John Cougar Mellencamp (though that is also pretty over-rated)

Even This Time I Know Its For real was good (one of the few Stock Aitken and Waterman I genuinely like)

I always found it boring bordering on irritating. In fact, I did a paper list of my top 40 least favourite songs of the 80s, and I think Fast Car was included there.

Another classic NOT is Coldplay with Speed of Sound. Part of the reason it is called a classic is because it was held off the no 1 slot by Crazy Frog.
