What's the point on a phone sized screen? The human eye won't be able to see any difference.

Exactly. I can just about see the point of an 8k or even 11k TV screen, but on a phone it is just ridiculous.

What have apple released lately which makes what you say true?

Many mobile phones just now have far better screens than an iphone.

Daily I sit and look at a phone with 2K screen and another with 1080p, can I tell the difference?

Can I shit!

I have a Note 4 and Honor 6, save the different launchers they work as well as each other. I have genuinely watched 1080p and 2K content on my Note 4 and I can't see the change.

I just wish device makers get back to offering phones that people can fully exploit. Having had a phablet since October last year its opened my eyes to how little technology progresses in 12 months. Next phone I buy will be fit what I need which isn't everything and the kitchen sink.

Well they better come with a car battery then because otherwise your phone will be dead in an hour. Screens so small are not noticeable to the naked eye when you go above 1080p. It is a gimmick and the only thing it will accomplish is a crappy user experience because you will be tied to your charger like an umbilical cord.

If anyone actually bothers to read why, instead of just jumping on the bandwagon moaning "what's the point of 11k" etc, you'll find out there's an actual very good reason for it.

People with microscopes won't feel left out? So, 3D effects without glasses. Why would I want that on a phone anyway, they may see it as the next big thing that will make us all throw away our phones and buy a new Samsung, but for me it's a gimmick. I don't miss a 3rd dimension now. Not on a phone, not on TV, not in cinemas. Today's technology gives a phone that is well used one day between charges. Somebody has to feed all those additional pixels. They speculate about Samsung working on better batteries, but so far it's just that. And actually a battery that lasts a week would be a better USP than 3D effects could ever be.

Looks like smartphones have hit the point that PCs are at - there's not much serious innovation to do anymore, so it's time for gimmicks like stupidly high resolution screens

Funnily enough I was about to say something similar. People will continue to buy smartphones when they break or contracts end but the days of hankering for the latest model might be drawing to a close I think.
