But at least Alesha isn't vile in real life. Which is (allegedly ) more than can be said for the notoriously "difficult" Ms. Halfpenny.

Quite. I didn't rate Alesha as a judge but she didn't deserve some of the vitriol directed at her. Let's face it, Strictly is a very middle class show in which everyone speaks "properly". That was the main problem - saying "you done amazing" got the middle England hackles up. Added to which, she replaced Arlene Phillips and got the "BBC ageist" backlash as well - it was hardly her fault.

It got my back up, too, I'm afraid. It's a shame everyone doesn't speak correctly. Still, rather Alesha than Ms. Halfpenny.

Can of worms alert ... your version of "correctly" may not sit well with others. How do local dialects fit in with that for example? I'm not being pedantic for its own sake (although I'm having a very dull day to be fair). Aitch/haitch anyone? Haitch drives me bananas frankly but it's becoming so widely used that before we know it, it will be "correct"!

"Should of/could of" should be a hanging offence.

I have no objections to regional accents. I have one myself. But Alesha's "you was brilliant" would be offensive to my ears in any dialect.

Contestant wise I'm easy . Lots of times on Strictly I've started off with a dislike of someone and then found them growing on me . With zelebs, over the weeks we get to see something of their true characters rather that a carefully constructed tabloid character . I like that side of it , especially where you can sense when a couple are really blending well, or not so well due to character flaws rather than dance ability .
I say give everyone a fair crack of the whip ,a clean slate , and set aside any preconceptions .

Looking at the Bake Off it seems that they have a PC list for it's 'reality tv' shows, I hope this is not on the list for Strictly.

Would it make me stop watching, I'm not sure, I absolutely love it, life without strictly, what a thought.

Why? Would you prefer to see two men fighting instead of dancing together? What a curious word we live in...

Yeah, there's brown people on it and everything, I saw, it's madness.

And - whisper only behind closed doors - I fear one of those gals presenting may not be a man's woman, if you get my drift? Absolutely shocking.

Maybe he did, but it was beyond Alesha's limited ability?

I agree; in fact I rather like regional accents, and unusual sayings that make up regional dialects can be fun and interesting. However, they're not an excuse for diabolical grammar!

As I never watch the soaps, and very little sport, I seldom know who the majority of the 'celebs' are, which I find an advantage, as I have no preconceptions to set aside.

Couples not blending well? The simple fact is that not everyone likes everyone else. It's not really down to character flaws though, it's just the way things work out in all walks of life.

Nothing. End of.

I'm somebody who finds the Autumn a dull and boring time of year (busy at work, looong way to Christmas and another break and so on) and Strictly and all the talk around it really keeps me going.

Well that's nice and certainly the way to go , but my comment was directed more at people naming zelebs that would make them turn the telly off .

We all have character flaws . The trick is in being partnered with someone willing to handle and overlook your (that's a Strictly 'your', not personal to you 'your') flaws and bring out the best in you .
