That's true actually. Whatever's in the cupboard.
Some of my meals I wouldn't serve up to visitors but I don't mind. If it tastes OK, then it gets eaten.

Really dislike tinned pots! I remember being invited to a student of mine's wedding - years ago. ( about 8 yrs)
I know she booked a posh place but everything seemed to be tinned! Potatoes & peas'
As a veggie the ' nut loaf'😒was so dry!
I know they paid a good price - was not served as -

Tinned potatoes are bloody horrible. So are tinned carrots. I can't think of a single reason to have either in the cupboard.

bobcar used the word in a perfectly apt way, as if he were adding a pinch of salt to a pot.

I might get a tin and fry them, as suggested, with some onion. Can't go far wrong at that price.

Thanks CC.

I'm off to Tesco on Maryhill Road first thing tomorrow morning.

I hate them too, and would never use them.

Conversely, I love instant mash potato. This also bears no resemblance to real mash potato, but I don't think of it as a substitute, rather as a totally different product.

Me too. Hate tinned potatoes and carrots but have a guilty fondness for Smash.

We always have a few tins of new potatoes (and other veg), as the ones we buy taste good and are quick n' easy to prep.

I use tinned carrots a lot for convenience. I live alone, and I cook potatoes frequently enough that I get through them before they get too old, but I have carrots about as third as often and they don't keep well. Also, they are more work to prepare. I might consider changing this, though, in future.

I keep a few tinned potatoes in the house mainly for emergencies. When I have needed to use them, I didn't actually like them much. I guess some are better quality than others.
