So today I made the switch to EE. I chose the £19.99 sim only tariff. The gentleman in the store explained that this tariff has to be entered into the system as the £20.99 tariff and a £1 "back end" discount is placed. I am dubious to be honest. I am used to mobile network operators telling lies. Has any one else signed up for this tariff and had this take place? Thank you

Surly as long as your paying the price advertised then that is fine and above board. Of course if the real price is £20.99 then you will have read this in the terms and conditions of the contract you signed,

The price on the contract states £20.99 but I got the member of staff to write the tariff details on the contract and confirm on numerous occasions that i would only be charged £19.99. I am just curious if anyone else has experienced this.

Register for the My Account section of ee.co.uk and it will show you the price plan you are on. If this is the right price, right contract length (30days or 12 month) with the right amount of minutes, texts and data, then don't worry about it.

If not, call 150 and choose the billing and price plans option and complain hard.

Last week I bought a SIM only data contract (30 day) and the store set it up wrong, I only noticed on the EE website by chance, and the billing team on 150 were able to fix.

Yeah, I checked there and it says £20.99 , which is odd because that tariff wasn't even advertised in the store. I took the guys word (always a mistake in a phone shop) and assumed that it was perhaps a new tariff or a special offer.

How much data do you get each month?

4GB or 6GB?

Were you an existing customer with EE before signing up today?

Not an existing customer and the plan with 4GB of data. I done a live chat with support and they said they can see the £1 discount. I have saved the transcript of the chat.

It just seems like a really strange way to do it. Wouldn't it simply be easier to put the £19.99 tariff in the system?

ahhh, I have just went on the website and it says it's a special offer. Perhaps that is why.

Still seems strange, I have had special offers from other networks (as well as sky tv and my broadband company for example) and it has always been shown it in my account.

A number of organisations use this method when running special offers (as it saves them money) as it's easier to implement.

In this case everything looks good, thanks for confirming the plan you signed up to.

I have a habit of panicking about things like this haha. Mobile networks wind me up so much some times! I can see how it could be easier if it is only a limited time offer.

There isn't one. The 2GB data plan has 2000 minutes.

Wouldn't BT mobile be a better deal?

Don't worry, I'm the same. Never trust anyone in a mobile phone store haha! That's my moto. I always like to do the research myself.

If I had BT Broadband then yes, it would be a better deal. I don't so 2gb for £17 isn't enough data and the £25 plan with 20gb of data is above my budget. It may be better value but I like to stick to my limit, and that was £20 a month this time.

Can never understand why anyone chooses to sign up in store when there is cash back available by buying online (£45 quidco on this tariff)...

I got moved to a different site in a different area of the country that has no 3g and barely usable 2g coverage on o2 (my previous network) with 3 days notice so I needed the sim on that day..... Is that a good enough reason?
