I think most comps are just a way of getting hold of a 'live' email address tbh. I think that BB comp is so high profile that it has to produce a winner.

My mate used to run things like this (not so high profile or expensive though and I would hope TV ones are regulated).

He used to choose a mate to win and get the prizes sent to their houses - caused a bit of a fall out once when he didn't tell them in advance and turned up at the door to collect it!
