If you are intelligent, especially in BB - it will be used against you and portrayed as a bad thing.

If you are stupid (or at least playing dumb) then it will be seen as "hilarious" and "real"...

There's little to be gained in BB from revealing you know some stuff, but potentially quite a lot from pretending you don't.”

Excellent post! I bet Danny would have no trouble spelling shut up. Desperate Dan is imo just an annoying pillock...

Only if you use your intelligence to do bad which both Joel and Marc did.

I do fast forward a lot but did I miss something or is the 'East Angular' quote from a previous show?

Christian mentioned his student grant debt. Is he at Uni?

I know it's all in the editing but I don't think I have heard a single conversation about anything other than themselves.

In a nutshell. But they have to project their disappointment at their fave being evicted somewhere. If it helps, let them get on with it

What bad have they done?

Outed true feelings and motives?

If this were the CH4 years they'd be held up as heroes.

Housemates definitely aren't thinking about furthering their education.
hAlso wy are so many people on this forum coming across as high brow yet their choosing to watch this z list wannabe crap on there tv.
Something to ponder I think. What you see is what you get with BB always has been. It's trash tv and will stay that way.”

I should appreciate it if you would point me in their direction

That must put you in a difficult position watching Danny then; as he's been both the most stupid and ignorant and the most aggressive and domineering housemate this season.

I can't stand these people who decide being thick is a career move when there are people who strive to achieve some level of inntelegence to get on and take them through a useful life. The morons who are too lazy or thick to bother then expect an easy ride through life are a waste of oxygen, but it's the likes of bb townie Geordie shore that pander to them and give them what they want FAME with having to put zero effort or talent of any kind into it,Ask most young people what they want to do in the future and the answer is to be famous just for the sake of it,god help us in the future with this attitude.

interrogate people just to try to expose something? Fully knowing that they are not that articulate and donīt know what to reply to his questions. What is he, the police? Why does someone feel the need to "expose" other people for no reason? Only game players do that to make other people look bad.

It's an indication of the world we are now living in when a young person who is articulate and likes to converse about things other than how they look or what they had for dinner is looked on as strange. Not only that but people get quite indignant about people using their intelligence. There was a thread in here the other day where someone while talking about Joel, said that "big words" should be kept for school or the workplace.

Going on the poll last night and the scorn the housemates have for Joel this seems to be a popular opinion. Stupidity is celebrated. Intelligence is looked on as smugness. I don't even think people feel threatened by a clever person, they seem to think using words of one syllable is doing something wrong.

I worry for future generations. Knowledge today is available at our fingertips. You don't need to go and read a book or go out of your way to find anything out. It's all right there and nobody is interested. Making an effort to spell correctly or to know about anything out with your social circle is looked on as strange.

It is, for me, the biggest problem I have with bb. I want to hear intelligent conversation. I am sick of hearing about takeaway food and peoples sex lives.

Aggression doesn't always = shouting or anger. Antagonism and styles of speaking are also deemed as forms of aggression.

This really.

It's not their fault that somebody else isn't articulate enough to hold a conversation or debate.

Joel respects honesty above all else, his questioning is deemed "manipulative" simply because he is intelligent - when truly he just has an inquisitive nature.

Why should he have to dumb himself down to gain respect from Mr. Wallpaper?

Danny to me seems to using different HM from the past to model himself on, which is now becoming so obvious . The Jade/ Brian don't what things are act and Brian took that stand from jade Add to that Victor who stood up for what he believed in.

Makes you wonder who the real Danny is, he knew all along how to spell Canoe.

Just taking these three from this year, I think people like them and support them because they can see themselves in them, it's sad to say but there is a lot of uneducated people in this country.

It's really shocking, isn't it? Charlotte Crosby is another one whose popularity completely and utterly stumps me. Well done Lorraine for at least trying to have THAT conversation.

I was about to post the same thing - while there are TV programmes who recruit and encourage young people who are disengaged from the world, and worry only about where their next fake tan is coming from, this culture will continue. They are rewarded with money and 'fame' for behaving in a way which at one time would have been considered puerile and ridiculous!

You could argue that it's just another way for them to earn money, it's not illegal and it's not harmful - but I think it is harmful if it encourages others to drop out of school in order to become 'famous'.

Well done Lorraine - about time someone in the media told these people that 'it's not normal, it really isn't!'

Yes, me too, there is no contest.

As for Lorraine, what a nasty thing to do and I don't even like Charlotte.

Ah, but isn't that the favourite Get Out Of Jail card answer for quiz questions - it was before I was born. Like the world only began when you popped out

I remember Derek in BB5 making up trivia quizzes - and having wrong answers, but no one challenging him.

I can never understand how people can be in that house, bored out of their skins most of the time and not want to take advantage of things if only to pass the time. Several times there have been housemates with English as a second language
- I'd have been a complete annoyance to them, wanting to take advantage of a language tutorial.

This social phenomenon of mass inverted snobbery aimed at articulate people of basic intelligence by the "Yeah, me I'm fick, innit great" crowd is one of the "-isms" that rarely gets mentioned, so glad it's been raised here.

I don't understand why people don't realise that it underpins the class-based society and allows the super wealthy and affluent by virtue of birth to enjoy their unfairly large slice of the pie guilt-free. 'Let 'em tear each other down'.
