The news was officially released at 11am this morning. However, despite CBS Drama getting a DTT licence recently, not that long ago the official help channels at Freeview / Digital UK were telling viewers there were 'no plans' to launch CBS Drama and to contact CBS... via their US website!?! (CBS UK channels are operated by AMCNI, with their own UK websites!!!)

Anyway, Take care. Don't overdose on Judge Judy.

They are launching some new shows when they launch on Freeview.

Well, new to CBS Drama.

Still nearly three hours of Judge Judy scheduled on CBS Drama on 1st September.
4 hours on CBS Reality and just under 1 1/2 hours on ITV3. All nicely scheduled so as not to clash.*

On the one hand, it's great to have the full set of CBS channels, but a bit more diversity please!

*based on a TV listings day, which runs from 0600-0600

CBS Drama used to be a lot better than it is now. On Saturday/Sunday evenings it essentially becomes CBS Reality 2 with hours of Judge Judy and other programmes taken from CBS Reality.

They should have taken this opportunity to re-brand the channel since it also features comedy and reality shows.

Surly they are going to get a placeholder up ready for the ITV retune?

That would be most logical.

Freeview are advising 2pm for the retune on 25th, ITV originally just said "lunch-time". (they'll always be someone tuning at 00:01 expecting the changes to have happened!)

And I don't think CBS Drama will be at channel 74 for that long. Of course, it looked as if it was originally going to go on channel 75, which was left vacant when Jewellery Maker launched on 76 (VIVA was then still on 74).

Channel 60 is now vacant. Following the EPG rules, If BT don't want it, then I would imagine CSC/Sony might look at moving Chart Show (Manchester) from 67 to 60, sitting alongside their other channel, True Entertainment, which could then free up 67 for CBS Drama. (Both changes could occur under the associated channel rule.) Unless there's some other shuffles/launches planned that haven't yet been made public.

(Of course AMCNI, the operator of the CBS UK channels + horror channel could shuffle their channels around internally, as UKTV did a few years back when Dave and Yesterday swapped channel numbers or C5/Viacom earlier this year with Spike, VIVA and 5USA.)

CBS Drama won't be COM7. Likely to be the current ITV4 slot on ArqB/COM6.

Assuming Hochanda/ITV4+1 doesn't take the ITV4 slot.

I just dumped the object carousels for data/MHEG streams on SDN. There is a placeholder slate for CBS Drama in there with the CBS Drama logo and text stating that the service starts on September 1st.

So it looks like CBS Drama is going to be on SDN.

It's looking like DUK have offered Ch 60 to CSC, and they've said, "yeah, can we chuck True Ent +1 on there?".

So CBS Drama will be stuck where it is for the moment.

It would be a shame to have another parking channel on Freeview, I can't see True Entertainment+1 going on a national mux (unless COM8!), so it'll be another Manchester parking channel job, unless there's another change we don't yet know about.

CSC have already parked Chart Show TV and Movies4Men+1 on the Manchester multiplex stopping a shuffle-up.

In fact we now we have
58 VIVA
62 ITV4+1
67 Chart Show
69 TruTV+1
72 ITVBe+1
plus potentially True Ent+1 holding the fort so that the respective channel owners have some 'real estate' on the Freeview EPG.

The last I heard, Chart Show was still only on-air after 2200 on the Manchester mux after it moved last September. Can anyone in the area confirm what the current status of the channel is?

So CBS Drama has now been added to channel 74.

It takes a slot on SDN/COM4, meaning that ITV must still have some time left on its Arqiva carriage agreement over on ArqB/COM6, which Hochanda appears to be paying for now in what surely must be the most blatant test of Digital UK's EPG rules.

(Channel 4 still had its ArqB carriage agreement when Film4 moved to D3&4, which it used for Film4+1 until they secured carriage on BBC-B.)

I suppose it depends on how channel 39 is going to be branded. ITV has previously carried Ideal World's "The Deal Channel" and JML on its "The Zone" channel prior to morphing into "The Store".

At least on the Manchester mux people in Manchester can watch the full schedule, and it doesn't show up as a mostly off-air channel everywhere.

7-day EPG for LCN 39 gives 'Hochanda' as a single billed programme from 1200-0400 on launch day and 0600-0400 on subsequent days, with 'The Store reopens at 0600' between 0400-0600. On Sky 663 the individual Hochanda programme hours are listed. This suggests Hochanda will be broadcast as a programme slot on The Store, hence keeping 39, and possibly still on SDN as that's where the listings currently point to. (From tomorrow at 6am to Thursday at noon, The Store is listed as a programme billing in six-hour chunks from 0600, with Jackpot247 and Plates from the States in their usual positions post-midnight tomorrow and Wednesday)

Just as they did with The Deal Channel and JML segments in the past.

Not really evidence of anything, the listings can transfer to another multiplex with the streams. With CBS Drama taking a newly created stream on SDN, there isn't really enough capacity to split the CITV/ITV3+1/The Store/ITV4+1 into 2 streams, both running concurrently on SDN.

I suppose that ITV could move CITV/ITV3+1 to ARQ B rather than The Store/ITV4+1 but that would be more disruptive to continuity.

And the ITV3+1 EPG shows the extended hours of 6pm to 6am from tomorrow evening.

...and CITV/ITV3+1 PMT placeholders have indeed been added to ARQ B - So, CITV & ITV3+1 are moving to ARQ B, The Store & ITV4+1 are staying on SDN.

Not a good idea to retune just yet, work still needs to be completed on switching streams and on the NIT / SDT tables.

Edit: The NIT / SDT tables have now been updated, feel free to rescan.

With CITV/ITV3+1 moving to ARQ B, it appears that Hochanda won't be paying for slot. A strange move.
