Coronation Street -A complete Joke

I admit I rarely watch the soaps these but did sit through Corrie tonight

What was once a flagship program on ITV Its now its nothing more than a joke

What must the original cast members & script writers think of how poor this program is now? (Alive or dead)

Its AWFUL

No reality, recycled story lines, awful cast, poor writing I could go on & on.... especially sad is the no humour policy (which is something Corrie did especially well)

Examples, Blanche, Jack & Vera, Reg & Maureen, Stan & Hilda Phyllis & Percy etc etc

Take for example Bethany Platt's daughter-spent most of her life in Italy-yet talks like she born in Salford

All I can say is its really sad what it's now become

I would imagine other fed up viewers are switching off in droves as they are tired of the repeated sensationalism & poor storylines

How long will ITV continue to churn out this crap before action is taken

It was a great comedy.

CS is defo a joke.

I understand the need for a funeral tonight to get 'closure' on Deirdre following Anne Kirkbride's death, but for Ken to lay into Tracy about her affair with Tony. What? Ken has had so many affairs over the years, he was lucky Deirdre stayed with him.

They have FAR too many wooden actors, with Bethany, Sarah, Maria, Dev, Sean, Fiz,and they then replace established actors (whether leaving or not) with singers who have not have much luck with acting if any before.

Coronation Street has been in slow decline since the tram crash, if not earlier.

I was once a full-time, completely addicted Corrie devotee - I decided to switch off around 2011. This was a conscious decision and I've only briefly been back since, picking up the odd episode here and there.

Coronation Street just isn't what it used to be and I really don't have the faith in anybody at ITV to realise this. If anything, it's got a lot to do with the decline of the British soap genre as a whole, but Corrie seems to suffer much more than others. Episodes feel slapdash and storylines are predictable. Characters are loose and are moulded to fit a story, which was never the way Corrie approached things. Yet, the production team still bleat on about everything being 'character driven'.

Humph.

Please, Neighbours is a joke, its like a soap that is written for 5 year olds, not only is the writing juvenile but the acting is equally bad. Coronation Street is very watchable at the moment and over the last few weeks I've been enjoying it more than Emmerdale which has become tedious with the Ross/Debbie crap.

Wasn't the best tonight. After tuning back in for Deirdre's 'exit', I think I'll tune back out after this week. I stopped watching regularly last year and I only tune in rarely.

As I've said before, I've got one thing to be grateful to that egomaniac fool Blackburn - for the first time in more than 15 years, I'm free at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on weekday evenings!

Chronically bad. Dreadfully acted too. But it seems to still get a decent audience so they must like it.

I really think it could have been done better tonight. As for Tristan Gemmell, I could hardly make out what accent he was meant to have.

Yes that was ridiculous and spoilt the whole episode. Tracey and Ken sitting together and consoling each other, their differences momentarily forgotten, would have been so much more powerful.

Corrie is so bad right now I'd put Home and Away ahead of it. Thankfully Hollyoaks is so laughable that corrie couldn't possibly sink so low so isn't the worst soap at the moment.

Yawn. I thought this one had been put to bed. Bethany moved to Italy when she was 7 years old so has spent half of her life in Manchester. Therefore there is absolutely NO reason whatsoever for her to speak in an Italian accent whilst speaking English. You don't lose your accent in English by learning a foreign language.

The funeral was pretty blah, I expect a better tribute tbh and at least one episode dedicate to that not hashed together with the Callum shite.

They have lost the ability to make good television. Very sad times.

I couldn't take the funeral seriously. I don't think it will rate as high as expected.

Without a shadow of a doubt. Also Hollyoaks.

It was the standing ovation and applause for Ken that did it for me! He was delivering a eulogy to mark the death of his wife, not accepting a soap award! It's beyond belief that a team of writers and producers thought that would be appropriate. It completely killed any sense of emotion for me. Ridiculous.

From the sound of it Corrie is going to get worse with Carla leaving and the rumour of a Sally and Kevin reunion

This. Again! It's been discussed to death. There is no reason whatsoever for Bethany to speak in an Italian accent when she speaks English. She had established a Manchester accent before she left for Milan, and the whole time she was there was surrounded by expat Brits as well as her mother who also speaks with a strong Northern accent.

Why would she suddenly apply an Italian inflection to her British accent?!

Corrie is in the shit right now, but Bethany's accent is the least of their worries if you ask me.

Blackburn has shortened Corrie's lifespan, with so many viewers stop watching in just 1-2years so within 10years I think it will sadly be no more.

In this day and age of more TV competition, soaps need to be strong. For this to happen ITV need to cut 1 episode of Emmerdale and Corrie and sack Blackburn then overhaul the Corrie team. Only then can it be salvaged.
