I was having a look at some of the handset plans which is a bit more complicated but it appears that All You Can Eat Data is only available on the highest price plans. Where as you used to be able to get it on lower to mid range plans.

Sim only plans which offer better value give a good comparison.

#makeitright is nothing more than marketing. They aren't doing anything special other than Feel At Home imo. I don't think #makeitright even introduced anything new.

Look at T-Mobile USA with their Un-carrier campaign, they seem to be doing actual things. #makeitright is just advertising what Three already does, and it's really nothing different from 1 year ago, but the prices are higher.

It's £25pm for a sim-only plan with AYCE data, last year it was £12.90. #makeitright...

They've been doing that for a while now. As I said, three have been doing stealth increases and price hikes all over the place.

If someone wants to search my post history from early this year I have a few posts thst provide a lot of insight into the reason that Three are acting like this.

It's worse than that, considering just before this makeitright crap, they announced they'd be giving in and doing the dodgy "prices will rise yearly in line with RPI" rubbish despite their promise not to do that when everyone else did

Move to ID Mobile then, £20pm for AYCE on a rolling 30 day contract using the same network. Ok, its still not £12.90 but at least it gives you the opportunity to vote with your feet and also have the satisfaction of not giving Three continued business. Plus you'll save a fiver every month, which surely is better in your wallet than theirs?

I was tempted with a deal on a phone that was on the ID network for my wife, but did not go with it for the following reasons:

Only 3G (even though Three's 3G is excellent you won't be able to take advantage of the 800mhz 4G with better building penetration (when and "if" it's launched).

Don't believe there was tethering included.

Would not work with my Three signal booster box at home (rubbish signal inside my house).

Will not work with Three's InTouch app to make/receive calls over WiFi (a must for my wife so she can use the phone at her work).

It may be an excellent deal for a lot of people though (afraid not me or my wife ).

Tethering

Tethering is when you use one of your mobile devices (connected to the internet) as a modem for another device - usually a laptop or a Wi-Fi-only tablet.

Tethering price information

Please note that we do not allow tethering on any of our current plans. If you do use this service it is likely to use up large amounts of your data allowance very quickly, and you will be liable to pay any charge that may occur if you go over your allowance. Please check for updates on our website as this may change in the future.

Yup, still a great deal. I can use my iPhone as intended because I don't need to worry about going over any limits.

Can't understand why they've launched this ad campaign now, surely it would have make sense to have launched it at the same time as 800mhz 4g, then they really would have something to shout about. Instead they've a shop full of signs saying 'people think our network sucks' and if anyone asked what's changed since they or there friends were with them 12 months ago, the conversation with be very brief, "nothing" - - - "goodbye then"

In reference to the first point, iD mobile also uses Three 4G network, I know this because I am looking at a phone with the a sim inside.

The company is still very much growing, so much so they haven't even brought on board the ability to change your tariff over the web or phone. Its pissed me off as they have a plan for a fiver a month which would give me all the web and texts mins I could ever need for a second line.

As for the tethering, this is a rather strange one, I asked them over the phone whether contracts with fixed allowances were able to do so, they conifrmed yes. Unlimited plans not so. I take this with a pinch of salt mind you, ringing their customer services is a ball ache frankly.

I am having to cancel a line/account so I can go for that cheaper £5pm tariff.

Beyond that their service levels and coverage is the same as Three, though I do wonder does iD get the same priority on the network as direct Three customers?

The AYCE data All In One 15 with 300 minutes that still very much on offer is far better than the All In One 25 that gives another 200
unwanted minutes for a tenner more.

Forcing you to have to take out the All In One 25 just so that you can continue to use AYCE data on PAYG by suddenly ditching their All in One 15 plan would be totally ridiculous.

How is VoLTE going to work on iD and the other Three MVNOs if there are any? Will they get it the same?

I was thinking about MVNOs that have VoLTE the other day but I don't actually think any exist, I'm happy to be proven wrong though. Not because it is impossible just because it is a pain, why EE WiFi calling isn't available to MVNOs as well I guess.

I love the approach that some companies take, to try and turn a negative response into looking like they are doing you a big favour

If that really is the case, then one easy solution would be to offer tethering on their 'shockproof' plans, i.e the tariffs they offer where it is impossible to go more than £5 over your monthly cap. Problem solved!.

I wonder if their Data Only sims are capped at the monthly allowance, or whether its possible to run over - adding extra charges, because its possible to use data that way, just as fast as it is via tethering.

Yup the £17 replaced the £12.90 plans and they let you tether 4gb. I have been a fan of the all in one 15 payg plan but I am tempted to sign up to this plan just to guarantee a cheap deal for 12 months. The only thing putting me off is we now have EE 4g here and there is no sign of Three getting their act together and doing the same. Only 17.5 down on Three H+ and 85 down on EE LTE.

I'm still on the £12.90 plan. Are they forcing people off this, onto one of the higher tariffs? Not received any communication to this effect, so hoping they'll leave well alone...?

All the old plans are going, or so it was said.
