It looks like anyone considering applying for future BB's will have to have a totally pure back history or risk BB exposing them because they did something in their past. Which i would imagine considerably reduces the amount of applicants.

I agree that the Daily Star should be taken with a large pinch of salt. However, they quote Big Brother as having said, "Which housemate put an end to a relationship with an ex by reminding them of an intimate video between the two of them that their parents wouldn’t want to see?" and that is the crux of this debate. I doubt very much that they got that bit wrong.
Of course his (now ex-)girlfriend could be worse. Does that make him (allegedly) blackmailing her okay? Of course it doesn't!

At least he could say that technically it wasn't a threat and that he wasn't blackmailing her, he was just saying it would be an 'unfortunate accident' if it did happen.

However if Cristian mentioned it to someone in the house then imho it can be discussed although we should be shown the conversation so that we have the opportunity to put it into context. From Cristian's comments to BB it looked like he mentioned it in the house.
Re the Danny tweet comment the same applies imho. How do we know that Danny actually made that tweet and not ine if his mates as a joke, and if he did what was the context?

I agree with you. The example you offer sounds a very plausible one, if that's indeed how it was.
Unfortunately from the link to the Daily Star article, they've quoted....

Which clearly states that he ended the relationship with an ex by reminding them of the intimate video.
If BB or the Daily Star have misrepresented Cristian by framing the question like that then they are possibly open to legal problems if Cristian wanted to take it further.
At the moment I'm not jumping to conclusions. In this country it's customary to be innocent until proven guilty.
If BB have twisted this then shame on them, they're an utter disgrace.
But the point is we don't actually know what happened. It was between two people - at least one of them likely a teenager. We should not be so quick to judge.

The plain truth is that BB could NEVER get away with making such a declaration of what was said had they not got irrefutable evidence that he SAID he did it . This will be either in the form of him telling an ex HM (can't be one of the present dullards as they'd recall it. Or maybe not knowing those dopes).Or it could have been matthew boasting during the application process and interviews to depict himself as edgy and hard and cool .Either way it will be memorialised in print or on tape .

I think if its something he told the others about then surely he cant have been malicious (can he?). He's hardly likely to admit to doing something like that if if he was actually blackmailing someone!

I wonder why it wasn't broadcast at the time? Did Big Brother have to get permission from the ex-girlfriend? Or were they showing so little of him that that little nugget would have been the nail in his coffin at that point?

I sympathise with the 'judge them on the house only' argument; but I think, for good or bad, it's outdated and flawed.
When BB started, very few people had any kind of internet footprint and there was no social media. Now there is; it's a fact of life. We have to get used to the fact that there's endless amounts of information about each and every one of us if people want to search for it.
There's a life lesson here for younger viewers. If you sent it out into the www ether it doesn't disappear - ever.

Yes- you're missing the fact that when it comes to Cristian's devoted following the poor boy can do no wrong. He is also well fit. Innit.
This thread is amusing but only because if it were any number of other HM's (especially if it were one of the females such as Sarah or Jade) I highly suspect they would get torn to pieces on here, and for far far less. Anyone threatening to bring up a sex tape to a current or an ex is guilty of pretty sleazy sh*tty behaviour. I don't see the masses come out in force when stuff about other HM's has been revealed from before they entered the house, in fact some people seem to positively revel in it.
Surely it's either ok to bring stuff up from ourside the house or its not. When people pick and choose, the credibility of certain arguments declines.
It certainly puts MC Cornflake's totally out of line and pretty childish/ petty accusations towards Jade (who was guilty of nothing more than being a woman really) into context.
Cristian could pretty much do anything and there will still be the same old faces leaping to his defence. I said it before but certain posts on him remind me a little of One Directioners on twitter at times.
