It's a pitiful small list of all the 4G phones out there.

I'm going to Vodafone, all you need is an oversized hot dog.

Well the updates to allow the network to do it have been ready for a few weeks now
However I didn't know the new iPhone was being launched in 'Summer".....

Take Three info with a pinch of salt.

Who are you responding to? The Three list from my post doesn't say the new iPhone will be launched in "summer", it says

Quote:
“Current cutting-edge phones including the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus and the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are confirmed to get the new service from Three, as is the iPhone 7 (or whatever Apple’s new phone will be called when it's unveiled later in 2015).
”

They don't even say that the service itself launches in summer.

“Three will bring 4G calls to a number of high-end phones in Autumn this year”

I've said plently of times not to use that list.

It's highly likely the final list for day 1 will be shorter and may have other models.

I wasn't responding to anyone specifically.. Three will be Winter, VOLTE on EE will launch UK wide when it's fruity time. No idea about Voda or that other network that's forgot what new tech is.

From the Three blog; "We’ll ensure that this network enhancement is extended to all of our customers; 1million will be using VoLTE this year and 7.5million will be enjoying it by 2016."

How will all those extra customers get VoLTE? New handsets or something Three can do to enable existing ones?

Think the only phones which are guaranteed to have support for VoLTE if it launches this year is iPhone 6/6+/iPhone 7 and S6/Note 5. Rest are massively up in the air and will require carrier versions.

New handsets, extremely optimistic if you ask me.

The CSC config file (others.xml) on the EE branded S6 ROM is already set to allow VoLTE, however if this requires any further settings or not it's not clear, be nice if it just worked straight away, but nothing is ever that simple

Any idea if you can enable VoLTE on an S6 if you are rooted but on a custom rom? Maybe editing that others.xml file?

Potentially, I think someone over on XDA managed to get WiFI calling going on a BTU rom by editing that file which I guess could do the same for VoLTE
