Obviously it doesn't matter anymore as the scenes have been aired, but would anyone would have liked to see Kenneth Farrington reprising his role as Billy Walker for a one-off special to say goodbye to Deirdre. Although it's not exactly realistic and he has been gone from the show for 30 years, in her early years she was engaged to him and they were close to marrying before he left the show (during one of his many stints).

He could have also appeared in the Rovers and caught up with some people who remember him.

I was thinking about Billy Walker yesterday at Deirdre's funeral - I'd love to have seen him. I can't remember if Deirdre dropped him for Ken or Ray. I don't think Mrs Walker was very impressed when Billy and Deirdre got engaged, but she wasn't too chuffed when Deirdre dumped him either...

I think they decided to call off their engagement, and Deirdre then got with Ray Langton.

Much as I'd love to see Billy back after so long, it just wouldn't make any sense.

Bev and Peter were the only likely returnees - and it's a miracle TPTB actually followed through and brought them back for Deirdre's sendoff.

An appearance at the graveside would have been a nice touch, but I doubt he'd have heard about Deirdre's death as he was settled in Jersey last we saw him, and even if he returned to the mainland he had no love for Weatherfield and burned his bridges on his last visit.

How Corrie could do with the likes of Annie Walker today! *sigh*

No, I can't even imagine how he would have heard of her death

I think they should have brought back Adam Barlow for the funeral considering Ken just spent the last year with him in Canada

That would have been a good idea - or Ray Langton. The whole funeral could have been done so much better - if Chris Gasgoinge is returnng then why not have him back for the funeral instead of turning up days later, seems pointless to me. And 60 old dear Liz McMutton carrying the coffin - please - it would literally have been a dead weight and she hadnt spoken to Diedre or mentioned her in months the old hypocrite.

Ray would have been more likely but I think the actor who played him died a couple of years ago didn't he? In fact, is the character Ray dead too?

The actor is alive, the character isn't.

It would have been nice to have seen Mavis as well. I'm not sure how friendly they were but they would certainly have known each other. It wasn't that long ago Rita went to visit her, so she could have come down from the Lakes to support Rita and Emily.

All the soaps need the calibre of characters and actors past.
