Reading the twitter feed/website this side of him has been there for quite a while, it just hasn't been shown on the highlights show.

They just focused on his scheming side rather than that side of him. He has no real personality so his objective throughout the series is to belittle other people & try to make them look small or bad to the viewer through his questioning.

If you had watched some of the videos on the website, the fun side of Joel has been there all the time. It just isn't shown on the highlights.

I find his questioning shows him to be intelligent, wanting to learn more etc.

I think more than one housemate would disagree with you. We have seen at least 3 of them refuse to answer his questions because they knew what he was up to in their opinion.

In their opinion and yours but I maintain imo he is intelligent and that is what clever people do, ask questions to learn more about people and things.

In the first sentence you suggest he has a scheming side and playful side then in the second that he has no personality?

I never mentioned a playful side, that was mentioned in the thread....it's all for the cameras, it's not a natural part of his personality. He knows when the cameras will be on him or when to play up to the cameras....when music is playing that part is obvious! Joel does everything for the cameras. If you listen to Joel talk, he talks in that slow dreary way where someone is carefully choosing their words wisely....clearly thinking about every word he comes out with in case he looks bad. It is so obvious! And no, he has no personality!

You said 'that side of him' so you must be referring to something he's shown. Even if he is someone who decides to put on a show at the right times, or picks his words carefully, then that's still a personality even if that's one you personally cannot take to.
Since the start. The clips and the weekly feed showed Joel always being this animated. The HLs just only started showing it though.

So it's a constructed personality he's chosen to show 24/7? I'm guessing he's showing it 24/7 as not many, if any, evicted Housemates have stated he's different to live with to what's been shown.

He's a prig.
can't stand him and no idea what you mean about Katie Perry.
I recall he started off like this but stepped back a bit when Marc and Helen were there. They were such an oppressive force that most of the HMs' personalities were somewhat stifled. Good to see him back!
