I couldn't give a rats ass what politics he stupidly decides to devote his life to. I dislike him because he is a comes accross as a smug, self righteous and superior individual.
It's churlish to insult the forum members for being insulting when all we . well I am doing is stating my opinion. You do it too connor.
The bold bit proves my point.

I was insulting anyone. Just stating that anytime something starting threads about Joel I only way people can express their dislike is to insult him.

So if for example someone said
I cannot bear to look at Marc's ugly face for much longer
You would be equally as disgusted and annoyed at whoever said that?

I can't understand what all this class warfare is about. It seems that a lot of people have taken a dislike to Joel because he is interesed in politics and even worse supports the Tories!

Well I'm not happy that they won the election but I don't go around forming my views about someone by first asking what political party they support. And then assigning them with aĺl the negative attributes that I associate with a party I'm not keen on.

All the descriptions of him being slimy, smug, manipulative etc are very harsh. To my mind a lot of those views can be said of most of the housemates at some time or another.

I think a llot of people distrust Joel because he is defintely not your typical teenager - he seems to have been born old or just out of his time. But then the little boy in him escapes and it's a sight to behold. Love, love, love that he's into ABBA, can do a slut drop with the best of them, is not afraid to let out a girly scream, but is interested in other people and can hold an intelligent conversation.

in a sea of mock stupidity (or actual in the case of Danny) Joel is breath of fresh air!

So Joel for the win or at least in the top three along with Nick or (ducks first) Jack as although a moaner and a bit bitchy has been interesting and insightful at times.

He doesn't make normal conversation with other house-mates, in most of his chats he appears to be interrogating the others; trying to get them to say something they'll regret whilst attempting to make himself look clever.

If you've enjoyed watching a sneering smug kid looking down his nose at others then he is your winner but he certainly isn't mine as as for those stupid slut drops, he seriously needs to find himself another move, that one was done a WHOLE lot better by Louie Spence...

He is a Tory councillor and so his political allegiance is more about who he is than it would be with someone else; he's twitted a ton of political stuff so it's only to be expected that it's going to be an issue, he's made it one!

It matters when you broadcast (either in the house) or on twitter that the Tories are the best thing since sliced bread

Whether you agree with his politics or not it makes a change to actually have a HM who has views, a little bit of intelligence and the ability to speak in sentences.

Joel being a councillor - a school governor - involved with two charities - means this NINETEEN year old is one exceptional individual trying to do good for his local community... I wish there were more people like him interested in helping their local community... pompous? Occasionally perhaps but at least he hasn't pretended to be any one else...
He doesn't come across as a nice caring person wanting to do their bit for society, if he did I think despite hating his political viewpoint I would like him anyway. To me he just appears to be smug and snobby. I hate the way he thinks he's superior.

You just started a thread saying you don't want him to win... because he doesn't watch BB.

They've actually had loads over the years like that. Joel is unexceptionable. He comes over as rather less interesting or intelligent than people like Shell Jubin, Victor, Anna Nolan, Melanie Hill, Richard Newman, Dan Bryan, John Tickle, Cameron, Kemal, Marcus, Siavash, Bea, Dean, Alison Hammond, Grace, Jonti, Lesley Brain, Luke Anderson, Makosi etc.

It's a myth that somehow Joel is special and unusual in that regard.

Only last year we had Christopher and Chris, both of who were considerably more articulate and intelligent than Joel.

The thing you have to remember is there have been plenty of Tories who have been great housemates over the years so why is Joel different..well he is making his politics an issue in the house.
How do we know he is a Tory? he made a point of mentioning it in the audition tape so this surely means its up for judgement,2 others I know did that were sara and lucy pinder yet they didnt rile me like Joel so there has to be another reason..for me its a number of things, just one of those things is that I find Joels behavior and attitude very similar to the PM and that riles me no end because I think we have a snobby out of touch pompous arrogant loathsome PM who seems to delight in p*ssing on the weakest in society while giving more and more to the richest and the ones who cheat their taxes and worse still look after the very people who caused the financial crisis while hitting the people least able to look after themselves...I see that type of Eton arrogance in Joel and I see him manipulating the same way a politician does..its extremely off putting...I absolutely loathe UKIP as well but I found Harriet entertaining for her short time in house..maybe that would of changed over time as it has done with Joel..first week he didnt bother me and i was aware then he was a tory..so when people say its cos he is a tory i dont believe its just cos he is a tory but because his behavior and sneaky manipulations are as repulsive as Helens so called honest talking...many also see him as fake because he does not talk to hms like housemates but more like he is interviewing them in as much detail as paxman used to interview politicians..its not normal, its not how he would talk outside the house so why do it at all?

I don't know why being a Tory is such a bad thing. Aren't all politicians/parties pretty much the same in this Country?

If you'd said, "Hands up if you dislike Joel because he wants to be a politician" then it would probably make more sense to me. But even then, it's his life he can do what he wants.

I don't think there's anything more admirable about being a Labour or Lib Dem or UKIP supporter, than being a Tory supporter. Just my opinion.
Well said, it doesn't really matter who he supporte as long ss he's a decent, genuine lad, which I happen to think he is!

nothing to worry about anyway, I don't think Britain will ever be ready for a slut-dropping cabinet minister, if he wants a career in politics, he should really have kept that behind the closed doors of the massage parlour like the others do

The difference between Joel and the other housemates listed above is simple - he is just nineteen... and he definitely has not allowed Danny to be the "daddy" of the house... his VT wasn't great but nor were some of the others shown again on BBBOTs last night..

There is some real scum on this planet, sadly, but you lump in those simply elected in a democracy.
Seriously, that's crazy, and I say it as someone who's never voted Tory since 1975 and never will.
