I like Joel but it's not as if every other housemate hasn't had negative threads about them

I have not seen Joel intimidate anyone, why single him out when others have behaved far worse.

You need to re watch the hotel task. He used intimidation as tool to put the staff back in their place. Really unsightly behaviour.

If you bothered to read the thread rather than just wade in with your knee-jerk bluster you'd realise that many people are discussing Joel's unpleasant streak without calling him a bully.

You have a little crush on him, or whatever causes such an emotive response. That's sweet. But accusing people who are putting forward considered and articulate posts as to why they don't like or trust him, and therefore don't think he is worthy of winning, of pushing a 'blatent lie' (sic), adds little of value to this discussion.

The problem for him (and Chloe, for that matter - her 'I sense a pie-face meltdown coming' comment was particularly illuminating) is that Jack, having got the 23k, is not rising to it and is handling himself with good grace because, in his head, he's out of the running anyway. Therefore, he's not self-conscious about how he'll be seen on the outside and desperate to present any particularly contrived version of himself. The only other housemate I could say the same of is Nick, who has probably never even entertained the possibility that he could win.

Bully is too strong a word but Joel is like one of those friends you have for years who makes you feel s*** about yourself because they're constantly putting you down in tiny little slithers. Taken by themselves those slithers seem relatively inconsequential but the cumulative effect is much more negative than you ever quite realise in the moment. Years later, after having drifted apart and with the benefit of an objectivity granted by hindsight, you wonder why you were ever friends with them in the first place.”

A very astute post. There are a lot of subtleties to the mean behaviour which means a lot of people are not seeing it.

Maybe but you need to go to some 5* hotels as this behaviour is common in SOME hotels were some of the guests can be pretty unbearable towards the staff... maybe he was acting out his "guest" role rather too well!!! Also remember we only watch one hour edited show per day - we really only get to see what BB wants us to see...

Yes I know that the Torys have borrowed more money but they wouldn't have had to if Labour had not left the country in such a mess like they did in the first place. Why do you think the Torys were voted back in for the next 5 years, because businesses were worried Labour would undo the good work the Tories have done and we would be back to square one! Say what you like but our country are in a better place than 6 years ago and things are improving.

Plus no, I am not talking about Greece at all, Osbourne is doing a decent job and it has been said Labour was going to spend more than the conservatives, (as they always do) had they got in this year!

Exactly this, Joel is no bully, people are running scared because Joel is now the favourite to win. If Joel is such a bully why do all the housemates like him and he's popular on the outside! He might not be everybody's cup of tea which is fine but a bully, definitely not!

I'm not running scared of anything. I couldn't really care less if he wins or not - it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. (I'd rather he didn't though).

I'm just voicing my opinion - I don't like him.

I have studied Joel a fair bit recently and I find him the least mean housemate in the house. Anytime he has said things to Jack or others it's been banter or lads joking, nothing else in my view. I think that Chloe has been very mean to Jack about his size and the money at times but not Joel! I don't like mean or nasty people in any way or form and would not have any time for Joel if this was the case! He has said himself that he loves a good debate and this what he often does, some people might not like this but that's Joel's nature and the person he is and I find him very amusing at times and rather funny! We all have different takes and this is mine!

Your prerogative Penny and we don't have to all like the same housemate but the title of this thread is "Joel is a bullying creep". I have never seen Joel bully anybody and it's rather a low blow to say otherwise and to attack his political beliefs out of the blue when it's hardly been brought up most of the series!

Labour have never put anything right, spend, spend spend is the Labour motto, sell off our gold underpriced and let everybody else clear their mess up! Milliband would have been a laughing stock had he got in and this is why Cameron got a majority! I could say so much more but this is about Joel, the most decent lad this year in the house. Joel for the win!!!!

Some folk here kinda seem as if they enjoy finding fault.
A young man, full exuberance and loving life, is having fun together with all the other housemates- nothing more nothing less.
To start seeing him as a bully ( never mind all the other nasty names he has been called ) is IMO, a bit desperate.
If you don't like the guy .... just say so. No need to label him.
Of those left, Joel is my winner, followed by Nick and Jack.

Well said, my top three too, especially the top two! You are so right that Joel is a great young lad, full of exuberance and loving life and having fun with the rest of the housemates! I couldn't have put it better myself!

Absolutely spot on.
My daughter was friends with a couple of girls like this.

Only now she is in her 20's she has tackled them about it.
They called it "banter"... I call it a type of bullying. It used to get her down.

He picks on people he percieves to be weaker which in my book constitutes a bully.

Please do go on. I'm sure you have several other editions of the Daily Mail you could regurgitate for our reading pleasure.

A lot better crap than you get from the Daily Mirror that's for sure!

Actually it's roughly equivalent. Both operate a simplistic and tribal overview of political issues to hypnotise the masses which you are ably demonstrating.

No offence, but out of all the pathetic "bully" threads we have had here since DS opened like 14 years ago, this is probably the most. Don't want to be rude, but I have nothing to say if you think anything a person does is bullying.

So, yeah, if you think this was bullying then the 300 odd HMs in the last 16 years must be all severe bullies...

Guess I'm utterly pathetic then.

But I stand by what I think. Joel and many of the others are bullying Jack, with Joel and Chloe being the biggest culprits. I didn't come to this conclusion based on one isolated incident, but numerous occasions over the past couple of weeks... basically since they found out he was disliked by the public. (surprise)

Joel isn't a bully? Watch the hotel task back. He threw that food at Jack's face with total disgust after repeatedly winding him up. This and so many other incidents result in me feeling like, yes, Jack is being targeted. Try be empathetic towards another housemate other than your favourite.

Don't patronise me, I can tell the difference between friends teasing each other and having a laugh, and what they're doing to Jack. There was no humour when Joel did that. Does Jack look like he's having a good time? All I see is an embarrassed smile half the time, and someone too socially awkward to know how to react.

People seem to be fine at others having a go at Chloe and Dan (and people should be having a go at them, they're awful), but Joel seems to be out of bounds. Why's that?

PS: To the person who said I'm a Danny fan - I'm not, I dislike him as much as I dislike Joel. Also, with regards to comments such as 'Oh typical, the bully card in the final week' - I have no agenda, I genuinely couldn't care less who people vote for (and I can't even vote myself as I live outside of the UK.)
