I'm welsh. In fact I live in the valleys. There's no way on earth would he get our vote. No one up here would associate with or support anyone who thinks the Tories are the best thing since sliced bread.
But you don't know the politics of other HMs. Even the faux thickos could be Tory voters in disguise, along with their other playacting.
You could end up voting for someone right of Joel without even realising it.

I don't think anyone's political views are particularly relevant under normal circumstances. Joel has made rather a point of pontificating and posturing in his 'practice' at being a politician. He has made no secret of the fact that he worships Thatcher and Cameron and wants to emulate them as a career.

It's a bit different isn't it?

Why would he get the gay vote? Why would it matter? Is the gay vote worth more than the 'straight' vote? What is this obsession with peoples' sexuality?
It's not about his sexuality. It's about him adopting and use g stereotypically gay cultural references.

Joels not welsh. He's British. He's a unionist.

But at least the others haven't broadcasted their political beliefs.

It's when one goes out of ones way to appeal to the glbt community's support.

I doubt the likes of danny and chloe have the intellegence to have a political opinion.

Or the intelligence not to shove it down peoples throats.

I think Joel likes to exhibit his 'intelligence' at any given opportunity - he's incredibly patronising - not a nice trait. Certainly a little bit lacking in emotional intelligence I'd say.

And that's down to not having enough life experience and / or living a sheltered life perhaps.

It's nothing to do with gayness, perceived or otherwise. It's everything to do with him being snide, condescending, petulant and prissy, with a generous side-order of disingenuous unpleasantness.
Phorum Phrase of the series IMHO (and very true!)

He isn't gay but he does like a lot of the stereotypical gay cultural stuff.

ABBA, singing show tunes badly, squealing, bitching, pouting, wierd efeminate dancing, a little mincing and a touch of dressing in women's clothes.

Has he done enough or do you have to actually be gay for the gay vote?
I don't know whether to applaud your certainty, despair of this still being such an issue (how many threads on it?), or just wonder why everyone has gone on to reply without calling you on this rather key point.

I would say that my (gay) son and his partner simply can't stand him as they find his smugness and craftiness quite off putting - they're not keen on Tories either - so that's two gay votes not going his way.
If they turn out to be the vital two, thank them for me

He has said he's not gay. He just loves stereotypical gay culture.

Last night he got Christian into bed to prove he isn't gay. I'm sure one day he will decide to have sex with a man to prove how heterosexual he is.

Michelle Visage would be a top example

I've made my opinions of Joel pretty well known here : http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2092587

But I'll just say voting for Joel would be like voting for a less unattractive George Galloway.

That just makes we want Joel to win more.

I'm gay and he's getting my vote - the ABBA tributes sealed it for me

While Cristian will have a lot of gay admirers due to his looks, I think that men (unlike a lot of women) are able to separate their sexual attraction to a person and that same individual's worthiness as a winner. They realise that if Cristian was not to win, then it would not prevent them from lusting after him or his pictures in the future, so are more likely to vote for a winner based on other factors.

I'm gay and Joel is getting my vote. But not because I fancy him (which I do) but because he seems to be the only housemate with a brain.

Well it took me a long time to come out - I use to pretend I had a partner called Ros just to be in with the crowd at work although this was 20 years ago...
Does it matter he's a tory? Does it matter if he's gay? NO NO NO
Does it matter only two housemates imo have had standout moments in that house and deserve to win (the other being Jack) for pure entertainment value alone? YES
We are suppose to be voting for the best all round housemate and he's in my top two and others who hate him should explain what their "favourite" has done to deserve winning instead of spending time moaning about Joel... imo

im neither welsh or gay and hes getting my votes because hes the most articulate entertaining hm left and also the least desperate to win.
Exactly this, all my reasons why I want Joel to win. For such a young lad I think he's amazing, he's very entertaining and really quite funny, even if it seems so many people take his joking and messing around and his good humour as being nasty and smug and even been said bullying. I find Joek the least nasty and bullying person in the house for a very long time and I think it says it all with how much housemates have liked him in the house!

I don't think Joel is gay but just very effeminate and it's just his way but whether gays will vote I am not sure, I would imagine it will be mixed. We all know that gays are popular winners like Brian Dowling, Julian Carey and Rylan, we also had Luke A, who had a sex change and Nadia also. So I think if Joel wins it will be because people like his character and because he has been an excellent housemate!

That's as stupid as asking if Danny will get the hetrosexual vote.
