Tonight was a proper tribute to the legend herself and an absolute pleasure to watch.
Peter's comeback was suitably dramatic and having him arrive back in the midst of a blazing row at the Barlows was most fitting. His sparring with Tracy was powerful stuff, with Gascoyne, Ford and Roache (surprisingly) putting in stellar performances.
The script tonight- not sure who wrote it- was head and shoulders above some of the dirge we have been forced to endure over the past number of months. The scenes at the Barlows were suitably dramatic- that front room really has seen some of the show's most treasured scenes over the decades. I loved the reconciliation scene between Bev and Audrey and refreshing to see some continuity there with their love for Fred and the drama of his final hours.
Tonight's episode was near flawless in terms of writing, acting and pace. Everything- as it should have done- revolved around an iconic character who will be sorely missed by all and that proved the difference. If we had this standard with every episode, the show would be in another golden age.”
Great post, bravo! Couldn't agree more.
I really thought that Stuart Blackburn and co had seriously ballsed up Deirdre's death and funeral but tonight they got it spot on. I wish I'd known that tonight was going to be so good because I might have shut up about the other episodes and waited patiently for this one

THAT and Liz in the Rovers (where Bev Callard was obviously struggling with emotion herself) had me wringing out my hankies. But the ending with Ken was perfect, absolutely perfect.

Loved Peter's return, reminds me how much I miss the actor and how much I hope he comes back permanently one day.
I've always enjoyed the sibling relationship between Peter and Tracy, it's always felt real and tonight they were spot on. When he was giving her it straight about how Amy could turn out I was cheering him on, even he's supposed to have noticed she's turning into Tracy Mk II! I know he's no room to talk with Simon but Tracy really needed that, reminded that not everything is about
her.

Sometimes I wonder if Corrie need to cut down on the episodes each week.”
BIB: ... which improved the episode 100%!

There were even more subtle references when Bev remarked on the toilets, Audrey mentioned how they had been refurbished after the fire in 2013 and Bev then mentioned Dev losing Sunita.”
Loved it when they were sitting in the Rovers laughing at Michael thinking that Ken wasn't a ladies man! Then doing a roll call of both Ken and Deirdre's dalliances! Brilliant

I adored drunk Emily too with her pointy finger and "SHOUSH!" to Norris
Love community scenes like that.

I thought it was realistic TBH. I think it was supposed to be a while later anyway and only happened because Tracy backed down and tried to make amends with Ken. If she'd still had an attitude they'd have still been arguing at dawn! Really enjoyed the pottery reference and the 'egg cup', lol!
