Absolutely topped the funeral by miles..
Simply by not trying too hard to fit a lot in

The slowness of tonight was more touching than any showdown or OTT crying at her graveside
To see everyone so realistically remember her.. The harsh realities of life hitting the family, the slow closing of the night when Ken realised Thats it..

You don't need a bang for emotional. We feel it enough when it simply lets us

Exactly
It felt like an Eastenders episode
Not trying to compare here but they do those beautifully and this did too

They need to get that 'simple' works

It was proper corrie. Depth, history and wonderful connections (Bev n Audrey, red wine n Deidre). Could we have an episode like this once a week? Just locals in the Rovers talking about what's happened that week/remembering olden days and history. That would be the highest rated ep of the week lol

Agreed. The brittle truce between Audrey and Bev, with the assumption that viewers would remember the story behind their falling out was refreshing, and the final scenes at the Barlows with everyone exhausted by arguing and celebrating Deirdre's awful pottery rang very true.

I totally agree, this was the real celebration of Deirdre Barlow who we all knew and loved.
Having an episode revolve around characters we have known for years, remembering one woman who was a huge part of their and our lives was beautiful.

Of course, with the writing talent on Coronation Street, the death of a legend like Deirdre there would be no excuse for it to be anything but warm, funny, tearful and beautiful. And it did not disappoint. A wonderful way to bring a close to the life of Deirdre on the Street.

I genuinely thought they couldn't do emotion anymore
But it sends shivers through me..
I felt all week 'Why won't they let us "feel" this?!'
And finally.. 😌😥

Maybe people were too quick to condemn... We got the emotional pay-off tonight of a week of high emotion.

Audiences, me included, have no patience. Tonight was a culmination and terrific for it.

RIP Deirdre Barlow – gone far to soon. I always expected Deirdre to spend years at No1 post Ken... so sad that it was not to be...

I enjoyed it. It was the first Deirdre centred episode we've had in the last week or so but interestingly there was lots of reminiscing about characters of the past.
