Arguments and Conflict aren't entertaining?
In reality , gruesome fairy tales, crime fiction and the horror genre and thrillers have been popular hugely since the beginning of time.
When there is a massive conflict on BB it draws in the viewers. It is a fallacy to claim conflict isn't entertaining. It is just a fact of human nature. We don't live in disneyland and wouldn't find that entertaining. I can respect that certain individuals don't like it but finding it interesting it is not a moral failure of pathology in my opinion.

If however it is manufactured at every turn and everything done is aimed at creating it, then, boring. Also constant arguments are just draining (see last series). There needs to be a balance. |

What nonsense! "When there is a massive conflict on BB it draws in the viewers" how do you explain the fact that the series's with not that much conflict in were the most watched and got double the figures amount those that Channel 5 (who base it around conflict) producer get?

BB have been poking and prodding HMs in order to manipulate them to be more antanognistic towards each other, like they think the general public want to see soap style arguments and bitching behind each others backs.
If this shit continues then I don't know if I can stand to watch future series. A house at each others throats is not why I started and have been continuing to watch BB since series 1. There used to be almost regular really fun moments happening involving half to most of the group in each series, but it's severely lacking in that positive energy these days. |

I am responding to those who claim conflict isn't entertaining and want a boring, trite house. Having little conflict is probably based on people suppressing their personalities. In my opinion. Look a the conflict that occurred naturally in this house after the money was introduced. I think BB would have died years ago with no conflict. Maybe that is immoral and we should ban the show? I am not expecting murder though. Strong differing opinions will do. |

BB6 fight night was one of the most watched series and The CBB with Galloway and Bruns in one of the favourite and most talked about series.

Helen was Nasty yet won her season. How does one explain that?
She was giving some of the viewers something they liked...?Controversy? Outspokenness? A personality of sorts? |

If Helen had been up for eviction she would have gone ( I even think she would have gone in a four way with a vote to save feelings were that strong against her)
That her betting odds remained ludicrously high throughout the series even though she was a confirmed finalist also helped. As a few phone votes as a way of laying your bet at such high odds was not a problem. |

There's been arguments in every single BB series. I don't mind them when they happen naturally with no interference from BB. But when it becomes a constant thing and BB deliberately does things to make them argue and when some HMs like the loathsome Marc do things like try and create conflict by making others look bad by constantly winding them up, that's when it gets too much.

I know I'd sooner watch arguments and conflict than what we've seen from those left in the house for the past 2 weeks. Truly awful stuff, from awful people. I'm actually really happy that this rubbish is over tomorrow. If somehow I had known how it would end up I'd have never started watching this series at all.

I had to switch off when they started that slideshow thing. Almost reached for the sick bucket. I kid you not.

Most conflict is manufactured.

I think BB would have died years ago with no conflict. Maybe that is immoral and we should ban the show? I am not expecting murder though. Strong differing opinions will do. I don't like non-stop fighting or completely split houses/HMs. Helen's year was to divided and excessive arguing. This year there is arguing but everyone generally gets along** and even when they didn't it was useful since it revealed some aspects of some people's character that they were intentionally suppressing. *If Danny or Chloe win then that may taint my opinion of the series. **Helen/Brian with each other are the main exclusions. Sure, Marc and Danny towards the end didn't get along but that was just towards the end. Yeah, Chloe annoys Cristian now but it's not a big deal. I do think this particular set of HMs needed extra pressure to provoke genuine reactions however sometimes the provocation goes is a bit OTT. The worst of the fighting was natural (Brian instigated imo). I dislike Danny and Chloe but I don't hate them and there have been housemates I didn't much more. Maybe I am wearing rose-colored glasses since I am fans of JOEL (and Nick) and am happy they are both in the final. I've grown to like Jack and to some extend Cristian over the course of the series. I think the older BB style wouldn't work anymore--I can't see it generating the interest and rating with key demographics anymore. Society is changing and imo I don't think it would have the ratings to stay alive. I don't want it turning completely into a Jerry Springer style show but there needs balance. I do wish the show had shown more of the Joel & Cristian friendship and at least they showed a little of it this week. edit: I love the prize fund time bomb--exposed Chloe's hypocrisy and was entertaining overall imo |
