Is there any point in having Big Brother without live feed?

Ok, its been several years since we stopped getting live feed on BB - those few mins on a Friday night are pretty pointless IMO, but I think since it stopped its lost its original purpose.
We don't get a choice in what we see, and BB chooses to show the most controversial and obnoxious housemates and events to "entertain" us, but it's not what BB was originally intended for.
Some of the things we have seen over the last few days have made me realise what we've been missing.
Is there any point in BB any more?

What we have now should be renamed as a different show and BB left to rest in peace if we can't have live feed as an integral part of the series.

Is there any point. Not really.

I don't vote anymore.

I don't get to know the h/m anymore.

I don't love BB anymore.

But C5 know best.

Live feed is not necessary for CBB but is a requirement for BB.

It is indeed a little like giving someone a great book and only allowing them to have 2 pages of it.

If you don't like it, don't watch it.

No there isn't any point in calling it BB, had to laugh last night when one of the guests said this is a social experiment, erm no it's not anymore, too much interference and contact with outside world.
Also with the meddling and manipulation the HL show they are following a script or pushed story line . C4 were guilty of that towards the end but at least we had LF to sort out the Saints and Sinners
One thing is for sure I would never vote of the strength of just HLs and the pathetic and paltry little clips they deem to show us on as updates

It's a completely valid point though.

a 10 week series reduced to just 72hrs of footage of what the producers choose to show isn't my idea of BB

I never had the time to watch LF when they did show it. The few times that I sat down to watch it there were random jet and bird noises to block out parts of the conversation. I never saw one thing that was remotely interesting or changed my thoughts on what I'd seen.

I could care less about LF.

Not really, if you actually read the thread title.

It's sad, because we only get to see the producers/editors view of the housemates. As witnessed from a couple of the LF shows this series, the group were all quite nice people and seemed to have good conversation, shame the HL only wanted to focus on the negatives.

Today I'd love to watch the LF, to see them prepare.

Not everyone has to watch the Live Feed that's not its purpose.

So if I didn't watch it I would read someone else's interpretation of it here in the forum. That would make it as skewed and biased as some say watching the main show is.

Others may have the time and/or patience to watch LF and that's fine...I personally don't.

People tend to assume that live feed needs to have lots of bird noise and jet planes, and it just isnt true..
There is usually somebody else to point the camera at if something sensitive is going on, and you can block out certain words rather than a whole conversation.
Indeed, the paltry half hour of live feed we have at the moment has improved hugely with not much birdsong at all.

I think the point of live feed is that there is a record of what goes on (ideally, multiple feeds) and it keeps the show transparent and honest.
The premise of the show is (was) that the housemates should be observed continuously, but watching twenty four hours a day is not compulsory. Most people dip in and out and or have it on in the background.

I would think reading multiple impressions of an event is a good way of finding out what really happened?

Without live feed its not BB how it should be. Brutally edited just to make up storylines that donīt even really exit in the house. THEY choose how to portray the housemates and who to give airtime. I donīt like it at all anymore. Why i still watch it. I donīt know. Didnīt watch last year and after this season i am probably out for good. There is still BBUS and BBCan who still have the live feed so...

So you do, in fact, care about it in spite of your first paragraph?

I miss live feed but they do cut alot of coversations out, which I never understood why. The bird noises or simply muting them.

I would happily for it on like a yearly subscription or something

Interestingly you could find live feed for one of the series on Dailymotion, which i still till this day never know how that member got hold of it. It was the year dexter was in it. It was mostly night time feed. It has since been deleted.

No it's not. Why shouldn't we watch just because they won't change it back? If you give up fighting nothing gets changed

I thought they had limited LF that year?

I don't know but i couldn't find it anywhere apart from dailymotion that year. They used to show half an hour of live feed once or twice a week but this live feed i found went on for about 2-3 hours

That's what I thought we had hence we got to see Daley/Hazel in real time, with the build up over the previous night or two...

Maybe I'm getting my series mixed up.

<edit> wikipedia says there was 7-9pm live feed initially plus post eviction, then the early evening slot was scrapped, and later there was 12pm-2am online (where we saw Hazel and Daley etc)

Thanks for that info, I had forgotten that. Even that small amount was better than the paltry LF we have now.
