^That's misattributed, I think. Jonathan Larkin said sympathy was dried up. I think James just posted the ding dong thing.

I can't remember, but there was a scene where JP was talking to her on the phone saying it was okay she couldn't make it and they were sorting everything out.

No, there was no mention of her at all. Pretty pathetic really, fair enough they can't make Claire come back for the funeral but it'd be so easy to put one little mention of Jacqui in there somewhere. Maybe she could be unable to go to the funeral because of something like a broken leg, that's a common enough thing that'd be enough to put her out of action but not so bad the whole family would have to rush to her bedside. It'd take 30 seconds of screentime to put something like that across but apparently that was too much.

Edit; I've just seen the post above, it seems I'm talking rubbish. I really don't remember anything like that happening at all.

I could see his point as well, if he wasn't a known jerk himself. I remember him tweeting something really rude another time and his ex Jessica Fox telling him off about it. It just comes across petty and mean after Stephanie had already been fired on spot.

As for Stephanie, she deserves to be fired. If the multiple warnings didn't force her to change her behaviour, this might be her wake up call. I think I read about Shona McGarthy getting warned about tardiness and changing her ways to be more professional.

That scene happened, but iirc he just said he'd take care of the funeral arrangements, it didn't explain why Jacqui couldn't be at her own daughter's funeral ...

Yes, it really wasn't believable that Jacqui wouldn't be there.

Why did Mercedes and John Paul keep referring to Phoebe as their sister? Surely she was their niece? Didn't Jacqui (and Rhys?) adopt her?

I wondered about that. The only thing that makes sense is if the closeness in age just meant they saw her as a sister and referred to her as such.

As to characters missing. The only reason Jacqui would not return would be an incapacity to do so. The producers hands are tied if the actor/actress won't return or if it would cost too much for a brief return. Their answer is to 'forget' the character completely.

Yes. The viewers have not forgotten about Jacqui, though. They really needed to make it absolutely clear why Jacqui was unable to return (and Myra too).

They could use a double and have back shots of the person so that it looks like they are there but they don't engage in any talking scenes etc. There are ways to give the illusion of the character being there if the actor can't return.

Totally agree, especially if she was constantly late, drunk and unprofessional

That's so weird, it was presumably only a couple of weeks ago but doesn't ring a bell at all.
That really is crappy though, why bother to mention Jacqui but not explain why she couldn't go?
