Lucy Beale! It seems such a waste that both of them are gone now

killing off lucy was a big mistake, dtc must have been thinking the same thing when ben hardy announced he was leaving, lucy still had a big future in the show awful awful decision.

I agree, it was seeing Bens picture posted online as one The Avengers that reminded me. DTC must have slapped his head and screamed 'dohhhhhh' when Hardy said he wanted out.

Who Killed Peter would have made a far less interesting storyline though, Lucy was the more interesting character and had that Laura Palmer-esque vibe that hooks audiences into murder storylines. I really can't see people being enthralled by 'Who Killed Peter' seeing how dull he was as a character. Yes it's a shame that neither of the twins are now on the show but you can see the logic in choosing to kill Lucy over Peter, especially as DTC would have had no idea Ben Hardy would be leaving so quick. I still remain that Lucy was the perfect character to front the murder storyline, she was a good enough character for her death to have made an impact but not good enough that her exit leaves a gaping hole on the show - yes she had potential but I think that only made the storyline sadder, and the storyline itself was better than any potential that would have been fulfilled imo. Killing Lucy off wasn't exactly on the same scale of atrocity of unnecessarily killing of an EE legend like Pat.

Peter should've died because the actor wanted to leave but the actress who plays Lucy stated that she wanted to be in the show for the long haul so she was committed.

DTC killed the wrong twin and now we've lost them both so he's probably full of regrets.

And now Kathy's back and no grandkids to interact with ...Lucy vs Kathy would have been great to see on tv.

I didn't particularly like either of them so I can't say I miss them. I think they'd have been a benefit to the show in the future but nowadays young actors don't stick around long enough to become part of the furniture. I have to agree that Lucy was the better option as the murder victim. I can't see Peter having had the same impact.

The Beales have become a freak show. All they need now is for Psycho Steven to come back and they'll truly be Walford's answer to The Addams Family.

I agree about freak show. It annoys me massively that one of the original families has been destroyed in this way. Funnily enough Ben leaving has meant that the only member of family with character in tact is Peter. As undynamic as the character is!

As much as ive enjoyed the storyline..killing luxy was a mistake. I wouldnt of killed either twin off. I'd off killed a character like whitney who has run dry but was a good character who we care about.

All I can say is that the writers were determined to turn all of Cindy Williams I's non-Beale children into psychopaths. Cindy II was originally gonna be the murderer and Steven went insane and sterilized Jane. I guess I should have expected it, seeing as Cindy I herself tried to have Ian killed after sleeping with two pairs of brothers (David/Ian and David/Simon) and Gina requires no explanation.

lucy and Kathy scenes would have been good, poor decision from dtc, the beales have been decimated.

Lucy died because DTC thought she was a bad actress.
