He wasn't 32 when he started in Hollyoaks, which is my point. The cast are mostly young (or came into the cast when they were young) and seem to behave like a group of teenagers at secondary school, rather than a group of adults in a workplace, who are being paid a lot of money!

Maybe, but I don't think it's always been this bad. There seems to be a particularly bitchy atmosphere behind the scenes at the moment, and wierdly it's being led by some of the older cast and writers.

Some of them might do well to remember the years they spent scratting around for work, before they laugh at anyone else's situation. They may be back there one day.

Exactly. They may be laughing and bitching now, but what happens if Hollyoaks ever gets axed? Those laughing now, may end up with egg on their faces and left unemployed.

I agree, it does seem to be some of the older ones: Sutton, Kirsty-Leigh Porter, Jessica Fox etc are all in their late 20s-early 30s and old enough to know better now, even if they were much younger when they joined the show. It's not like it's the actors of Tom, Peri, Dylan, etc. being spiteful about their co-workers online ...

I was going to say the exact same thing. The unprofessionalism says more about them than it does Stephanie. That James has always been an arse though. Can't stand him.

The bitchiness behind the scenes doesn't surprise me. Long term viewers may recall Lesley Crawford who played Laura Burns publically speaking about how unsupportive and insensitive the producers were when she had a family crisis (think a close relative died) and how bitchy and backstabbing the cast and crew were towards each other. I think she said it was one of the most toxic environments she had ever worked in, and no one cared about trampling over someone else. That was about ten years or so ago, and it sounds as if nothing has changed.

Even Eddie redmayne called the cast "bastards".

Wow all this drama behind the scenes is fascinating, they should do a reality show about it, call it The Real Hollyoaks

and maybe they have very good reason for being relieved that this has happened. I havent seen any remarks anywhere from cast and crew except from a veiled remark by James Sutton on twitter which I believe was favourited by Kirsty, hardly a wholescale attack on Steph who is likely (given how producers and networks hate this sort of thing) to totally deserve what has happened. I also have in on good account that the cast with the exception of a few (none of whom have been mentioned) are supportive and friendly

Age has nothing to do with maturity. I think a few of James girlfriends have said he is immature. Breaking up with a fiancé having just got engaged emphasises that/

They may well be relieved. But they should have kept their mouths shut about it.

It wasn't veiled. It said Ding Dong the Witch is Dead - everyone who read it knew what it meant, and the fact that Sutton's now deleted it shows he knows it was a stupid misjudgement.

It doesn't matter what you think about this lass being sacked, it may be well-deserved, that is just bitchy and unprofessional. And I'm sure the cast operates like any schoolyard gang - if you're in with the leaders, they seem delightful - if you're not, it feels completely different.

ETA: Anyway, that's my last word on it - I can't waste any more of my time on these people, they all seem completely vile.

I don't get that impression from Kieron at all, to be honest. He actually seems like a very humble and professional person, and his castmates and fans who have met him have spoken to that effect. I actually think that's why he and Stephanie are such good friends--he seems secure enough and laid back enough to just have fun with her and not take her too seriously.

I am pretty sickened by the vocal responses (so to speak) of other castmates (and I'm glad to see the general public, i.e. you all, are also annoyed by the childishness). James Sutton continues to infuriate me, so that's not surprising. Kirsty-Leigh, I'm surprised by. Most obnoxious is freaking Larkin, though. Tweeting cryptically about her on his very public twitter account?! What are you doing?! Please, grow up.

I think what really gets to me is that this soap is just not good enough for anyone to be all high and mighty about anyway. So it just seems like children bickering. Hats off to the person who said it was a bunch of children running a show for children.

I think you're right. This is a weird example, but I know a lot of people don't like Persephone's acting, but she is a very bright and thoughtful girl. Far more mature than some of her senior co-workers it now seems.

Also, I think Steph's a brilliant actress and Sinead was a very realistically complex character (before the whole I-love-Ste thing). I'll miss her on screen and wish her the best.

James is notorious for his ill-considered knee jerk reactions but its the leap from one actor to "the cast and crew" that I find unreasonable

God I'd hate to be on the set of HO with such poison and bitchiness. I wonder how the older actors feel about this, if it's primarily the youngsters. Alex Fletcher (Diane), Nick Pickard (Tony) and Zoe Lucker (Reenie) are late 30s/early 40s and Jack and Frankie Osborne actors are probably over 50.

James Sutton sounds really catty which is sad. He is mates with Kirkwood though, isn't he? Not a great judge of character.

James Sutton is the biggest prick on Twitter to be honest. How he gets all these women after him is beyond me. He has proper porked out too, hes really not attractive.
Gushing all over his latest 'model' gf, when he ditched his fiance not 5 minutes before.
I loathe him.

He must be a fairly decent actor though, as i like John Paul!

Who is Larkin??

It wouldn't surprise me if this was nothing more than a spat between Steph and one of Kirkwood's pets as opposed to something more serious. There's very little logic on screen at the moment, off-screen is probably in a similar state. Let's not forget Devon Anderson wasn't given a fair crack of the whip on EE simply because he'd fallen foul of BK at Hollyoaks.

He a HO writer.

It's unprofessional and does not paint a good image of the cast and crew.

It was unfair what BK did to Devon Anderson, I understand the first time was because of time keeping but he held the grudge on EE and made sure the actor could never return to the role by killing him off.

If I recall correctly, he was boasting on Twitter about being the one who came up with the Ste/Sinead storyline. He seemed pretty proud of it, as if he'd come up with some Emmy-worthy top-notch drama. Tells you everything you need to know about Jonathan Larkin, I reckon

I had no idea. That's really sad to know. I think Hollyoaks was Lesley's only role & then she gave it up to become a midwife.
