I don't know about anybody else who follows the show and who regularly posts on here but I'm personally finding EE really hard going at the mo. and am really struggling to enjoy it in any way, shape or form! I haven't posted anything on here since about April connected to the show, so apathetic towards the whole show have I been of late! To me it all feels like 'summer time filler fodder' for now (which it obviously is) and this past month of the show is easily the poorest it's ever been under DTC's outright production tenure in my opinion - with the only interesting part of the show in 2015 being the Dean-Linda rape aftermath and then the subsequent twist in the Dean-Shabnam Jade parenting dilemma, which has all since fallen by the wayside again in the past three-four weeks! Vincent has been a relative breath of fresh air on the plus side though. Elsewhere then I also didn't enjoy the whole Dot trial thing or the whole build up to Stan's death over Easter...... but I'm guessing some of you did! Some of the episodes of this past month I've seen whilst training in the gym on their screens (on mute obviously) and haven't even bothered to re-watch them on BBC3 once home, mainly as they looked so dull!

The whole Carol breast cancer storyline re-run/re-visit with Shirley last week, as well as the depressing sight of Jean again (re her wedding to Ollie and showing her tempestuous relationship with Stacey - very tedious) thrown in for good measure made for particularly tedious viewing! I found it all a real turn off...and wanted to do that to the TV for all four shows last week about half way through but they maintained background status instead. All that was on the back of an excruciatingly boring previous week of the show too with the whole Stacey-Kush-Shabnam jealousy/dilemma. Now to add to the chore that is watching the show at present, we now have the Lucy murder saga rearing it's ugly head again. I despair! As other posters have asked, is this the beginning of the end for DTC now or just a blip a few months long? A long blip if so!

It's very uninspiring atm, it's had a few odd decent episodes but the quality of scripts and storylines have been rather poor, the momentum from last year has gone and taken with it the enthusiasm and passion for the show once had.

The only thing I'm looking forward too is Kathy's return but I do fear it's not going to be enough unless something drastic happens.

I know we're not gonna get the changes the show needs until a change of hands comes, so really we're stuck with it unless we turn off.

There isn't a single story line going on at the moment that really holds my attention.

Not Lee's troubles, not Stacey and boring Martin, not Shabnam and her new bloke and definitely not Ben and the Coker's Grandson. That is the most boring of the lot.

The never bloody ending saga of Lucy Beale and her untimely demise is boring beyond belief.

I like Kim, but she's hardly ever in it, and I like Linda, but she's not been in it lately.

As with Coronation Street, I watch out of habit, but sometimes Eastenders does throw up a very good episode.

I agree with the OP, It is very dire atm,when I am the watching the episodes it so painfully slow and boring. Where the humour? it just depressing,drab and dark. The episodes same forever to finish which is not good a thing considering the show has been rubbish for ages now. The next few months better be good.

There doesn't seem to be a single character I care about at the moment.

If I have a criticism of EastEnders it's that I think there doesn't seem to have been a conclusion to anything for ages.

Whether we're talking about Dean/Linda/Mick/Shirley, Kush and Stacy, Lucy's killer, Kathy being alive, Sharon's dad, Ronnie/Roxie/Charlie, Les's affair, ...everything seems perpetually open-ended, which is fine in itself but when EVERY storyline is like this I don't think it works.

I'm a big fan of DTC but if I were to be critical I'd say he brings too much to the boil at once meaning that we have to endure intense interest in one storyline/family and then suddenly...nothing for ages. I'm not sure 'Who Killed Lucy?' now has the steam to still be an ongoing major storyline as I think as great as it was, everyone is now exhausted from it. Don't think it should be dug up (excuse the pun) again despite how unrealsitic it might be to just forget about it.

I think this lessens interest as people know that no matter how invested that become in a particular storyline, soon it'll fall off a cliff and you'll not hear from anyone involved for the next five or six weeks.

I think DTC needs to learn to embrace his inner duff-duff and conclude some storylines.

I think it was crap after the anniversary, but much better this last few weeks or so - less Carters, more Cindy, more Masoods, Lucy plot getting going again.

I'm really hoping the annual August shut down doesn't happen this year - no one needs another Mick swimming plot.

It hasn't been that bad lately. The episodes last week were really good. The 2nd and 3rd July episodes were good and this week has been good so far as well and next week looks good.

Bobby is not 10 he was born in late July 2003 so he is almost 12.

Lee's storyline is good and Danny-Boy Hatchard can act. Stacey was really good last night and Martin is not boring. The key storyline is interesting I think. Shabnam's storyline is good. The Lucy storyline is not boring.

Another Eastenders Bashing thread

I used to absolutely love Eastenders and never missed an episode. Now i struggle to sit through it and im not bothered if i miss it.
Where as Emmerdale i hated and now absolutely love.
I think withEastenders the characters aren't consistent and i don't believe in them any more. There are loads of incomplete families and randoms. People leaving here and there.
E.g masoods need the mum back. It is not believable that she wouldn't ve there for Shabnam.
Ians relationship with cindy is boring. It was randomhow she came to live with them.
Bianca leaving. It was good when terry was in it with her and then they got rid of him.
Its like you invest in a character and then a few months later they've gone.
There are no gripping storylines. I remember syed and christian storyline was really good.
Need more stuff like that.

I felt last night, apart from Max, Carol, Stacey and the police stuff was forgettable mainly because this Coker and Paul stuff is so slow and tedious. I like Pam, but Les is just annoying. I'd rather Claudette has a proper storyline with Vincent, Kim and Denise.

I've not been as active either.

There has been far too many shirley centered episoders/storylibes during the much needed mick and linda break.

The only things ive enjoyed in recent weeks is the masoods side of roya, lady di finally appear and nancy and lee have each their own storyline and the cindy, carol, liam and tbe beales stuff

Clearly we are watching a different program, as a fan of the show I'd be first to state if it is dire and boring but the truth be told it's fine and very watchable, it's been in a much worse state and if you want to know the definition of fire then please watch corrie

They cannot go on forever and sone of these like the rape beed to be brought to their conclusion. The key and the cokers need to go full force now! the lucy one being like it is, is the Only one i feel can remain like this to keep interest

Stop getting angry just because I criticise. Even people on facebook and twitter are getting angry by the quality of the show. It needs to improve big time.

Agree with the OP, it's been sub-standard for months. Unfortunately some people will claim that EastEnders is always slower over the summer, as if it's just to be expected that they churn out crap for several months a year. If this is a summer lull then it started pretty early - the show has been slowing down since the Live episodes in February.

The rape storyline is genuinely one of the worst stories the show has ever done, and the constant focus on Dean and Shirley rather than the actual VICTIM is shameful, and by far my least favourite aspect of DTC's tenure at EastEnders. Linda has been an afterthought in this whole sorry saga, when it really should have been all about her. For months we had Shirley, Shirley, Shirley, and tons of scenes with Dean looking sad. Diddums.

I'm not particularly interested in anything that's happening at the moment. I have dipped in and out of EastEnders for months, something I haven't done since 2012, just tuning in when it looks like it could be interesting. It speaks volumes that I was excited for Jean's return - a character who actually was never one of my favourites - because it meant we had a refreshing break from the rest of the tedium that's been on display since the Spring.

Kathy's return cannot come soon enough. It's the only thing EastEnders has going for it at the moment.
