The whole point in BB starting earlier was to make a bit of a gap until CBB. By pushing CBB later there will be a 3 month ago until the next CBB, and that period of time will have a series of I'm a Celeb in the middle. It will be overkill by January.

No wonder it's not showing on my tv guide yet.

I'm actually done...this years normal BB was horrendous, the winner, utterly risable..now CBB when I haven't a clue who the "celebs" are supposed to be.

Thank God. Can't get excited if it launches straight after. I'll be ready for it then. Didn't gi e a crap while watching last year's summer launch.

I am glad we have a break for a few weeks but it will now probably be on the same time as Xfactor and Strictly.

Actually it's not that bad these days. I only failed to know who three of C15 were (Chloe, Cami-Li and Kavana)

Awh I didn't know Rylan & Dan were getting married. That's lovely! I was a big fan of Dan when he was on BB14, he could have won if he wasn't screwed over by the safe house twist.

I think its a good idea to delay it a bit but dammit I want a CBB now to purge BB16 from my system.

Me too. I hated how it would usually start pretty much immediately after the civilian BB ended; it was too much. Does seem quite late though!

Summer launch dates for Celebrity Big Brother:

Series 8 - 18 August 2011 (preceding BB12)
Series 10 - 15 August 2012
Series 12 - 22 August 2013
Series 14 - 18 August 2014

So it's around a week later than normal if the date is correct.

Be on holiday then but will catch up when I get back however it's more of an autumn be then by the time that finishes barely 3 months till the next cbb

I don't think we will find out for sure until about a week before like this years BB, which is the main reason why they got low viewing figures in the first few weeks in my view.

i think they will try to pomote the celeb version as much as they can, hence the bigger gap. Its the main version of the show nowadays

It will not start on a Saturday unless they are deliberately seeking "worst ratings ever!!" headlines.

Ratings suffer when the series are very close together, and Big Brother has been the only show I can think of to test back to back series. The summer Celebrity series have always rated a lot worse than the January ones, so I suspect they're trying to bring the summer ratings up to that level. It will be interesting to see if this plan of theirs works. 5 weeks is a nice gap, and then a 3 month gap into the January one.

The house will probably get a bigger remodel than previous summer series, because the gap allows them to do it. But it is naive to think that the reason for the gap is to remodel the house! Changing the house will be so far down on Channel 5/Endemol's agenda - finances, ratings, scheduling ect come first.

Fist date rumoured some time ago was 17th August ...but we will know soon enough.

That could help get them some new viewers but, starting the normal BB so early lost them out on a lot.

A doubt the exact date has even been decided by Channel 5 yet. If it does launch that week then schedules won't be finalised for weeks.

I know that but I wasn't expecting it to be 5 weeks! I was expecting it to be 2 or 3 weeks max. also, if its gunna start 27th august and gunna be apparently 4 weeks long [I read that somewhere]. its gunna end on 25th September [24th if ch5 keep the stupid idea of having a final on a Thursday night]. To me, I just find it bizarre.
