I have a friend who has only gotten into bb since it moved to channel 5 and would like to get series 3 as a gift now that the current series has ended and he'll be wondering what to do with his evenings.

I didn't think about that re the quality. I watched it on a tablet and that was bad enough so would be even worse on TV. I'm not very technical so unfortunately can offer no other solution Hopefully someone will be along soon who can point you in the right direction!
