Just back from a holiday in Ireland. Before I went I phoned EE to make sure my phone would work, yes will work fine but was more interested in selling me a bolt on, I said I didn't want a bolt on, I just wanted my phone to work in case of emergencies, "Oh yes will work fine"

Got to Ireland, No Service. Searched and selected all 4 available networks, No Service. So I sent EE a message on Twitter, after a lot of messing about it seems roaming was no enabled as I had been told and I would need to pay £50 for a deposit. I told them to stick it.

Anyone else ran into this issue?

When you signed up for your line/account there is normally two credit checks done one with roaming and one without. Most cases advisors will go through adding roaming on there, if at that time it passes the credit check it may do with roaming feature disabled for a certain length of time. Assuming you have had your plan/sim with them for a while and paid your bills or time then there is usually no reason to withold the feature.

Yes. When I started my own business a couple of years ago, I opened a business contract with EE. I wanted roaming, in fact I signed up for an inclusive roaming contract. Despite having had a clean credit record for 35 years, because I was paying the charges from my newly opened business bank account, I had to pay a 250 quid deposit, in order to have roaming enabled. At the time I was told the deposit would be paid back after three months 'clean' billing. Three months came, I asked for the deposit back and was told, it would be six months. Six months came, I was told I had to wait a year.
A year later I asked for the refund, it was a struggle, but after being on the phone to CS for almost an hour, they agreed to pay me back, but the operator I finally ended up with said, "funny, you should have had this back 9 months ago" Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
