Jane Danson is a wonderful superb actor and one of Corrie's finest, however there is a difference in style between Danson and King and is quite obvious when you watch them both on screen.

When you watch Ali, it is though she is not acting the part and is actually the character of Carla. She is very natural and obvious at ease playing the role. This is a hard skill to master and very few actors have this quality. The only other two soap actors I can think of are David Neilson and Lindsey Coulson.

Without being unkind the skills of King stand out, because many of the actors in CS are lacking and poor in comparison. I think Alison King should do a master class.

Alison will be out of contract as evidenced by her desire/ability to try new things. It's not a guarantee that she will return. I don't blame her for wanting out since the show has been diabolical for a while now.

Personally I think she is a bit overrated as an actress but then most of her scenes are with the dire Kym, which probably makes her look better than she is.

Carla isn't a patch on Elsie IMO.

Well said. Alison and David are corrie's best and when they are in scenes together they are brilliant Fridays scenes with them were brilliant and they both just know how to draw you in.

Agree with both you and Craig..Jane Danson makes every S/l she is in so believable.. a fantastic actress..I just hope we don't lose her from Corrie..it is known that Jane herself has said that being an actress there is always that urge to try other acting parts but at the moment she is happy to stay in Corrie...

I'm really going to miss Carla when she leaves, probably my favourite character on the street. Peter Barlow was my other favourite so I loved having those two together.

Just to be clear, she's coming back from Madrid, right? I thought she was leaving indefinitely next year some time?

LOL Carla is not patch on Elsie, Elsie didn't chase after married men until they eventually gave in, neither did she drink n drive causing injury and remind me how many times has UnderWorld almost gone under, only to be saved by one of her fellas.

I personally think Paula Lane is a much better actress than Alison King, which is a shame as she is always overlooked at the BSAs etc. Jane Danson will always be the best though, her facial expressions are wonderful.

She's gutsy, vulnerable, bolshie & has a foghorn voice, lol. I'll miss her scenes with Roy when she goes.
