Jacqueline Jossa and Ben Hardy were both great recasts

EastEnders Sam and, as much as I loathe the character, Peggy Mitchell

Ryan Hawley recast as Robert in Emmerdale has been amazing.

Kim Medcalf as Sam Mitchell!!! Love love love love love love Sam of 2002-05, she reinvented the character perfectly. With Danniella Westbrook unlikely to ever return to EE, I keep my fingers crossed that DTC brings her back. There's enough Mitchells on the Square for her to return and I think it's been long enough to put the rubbish from 2009 behind us.

Debra Lawrence as Pippa Fletcher/Ross in Home & Away

Amanda Clapham as Holly Cunningham in Hollyoaks (much more believable as Cindy's daughter)

Kim Medcalf as Sam Mitchell in EE

Gemma Atkinson as Carly Hope in Emmerdale.

Hetti Bywater as Lucy Beale in EE. I HATED Melissa Suffield, but grew to like Lucy under Hetti.

Jason Donovan as Scott Robinson in Neighbours

I like Jack P Shepherd as David Platt

I agree about Hetti Bywater as Lucy Beale. I found Melissa too hard faced and 1 dimensional but Hetti was great towards the end where she gave Lucy a really doomed and tragic quality.

The late great Maggie Jones as Blanche, she was originally played by someone else

Sam Mitchell in EE has to be one of the best ever. No way Daniella Westbrook would've worked in 2005 with Dens murder storyline.

Charlie Brooks as Janine was the best ever in EE. Agree with Kim as Sam Mitchell.

Going against the grain I think the original Janine had the makings of a great actress. Her childhood scenes are fantastic.

Agree about Kim/Sam.

Amanda Clapham as Holly Cunningham (Huge improvement over the other actress)
Kim Medcalf as Sam Mitchell
Ben Hardy as Peter Beale (Had no problem with Thomas Law.)
(Only eventually) - Jacqueline Jossa as Lauren (Although, it took quite a while to get used to her. I had no problem with Madeline either).

Bradley Branning's mother Rachel was played by a rubbish actress the first time she appeared but when she returned a year later having been recast she was played by a brilliant actress. The second one had a fabulous onscreen chemistry and love hate relationship with Max and contrasted perfectly between the loving and doting mother and the bitter ex-wife.

Same. Madeline Duggan was still very young when Kirkwood axed her and IMO still had time to improve. I wonder how she would've handled Lauren's big alcoholism storyline and last year being such a big role in the Lucy Beale murder plot.

Peggy Mitchell wasn't just recast, it was a 180 degree transformation, a re conceived character altogether. Look at Jo Warne's Peggy in her short guest role and Babs Windsor from 1994. It's like the EP who reintroduced her (was it Barbara Emile at the time?) had a whole different person in mind who just happened to be the Mitchell matriarch.

Probably controversially, I like James Bye as Martin in EE. I can't remember the previous one TBH so the recast doesn't bother me
