You are right and it seems like some people don't understand the psychological factors that lead to or contribute to obesity for some people. Strange that some dismiss this when all they have to do is talk to a physician or just use google. There is plenty of evidence to support this and that is why prior to gastric surgery for weight loss, patients are required to undergo psychiatric testing (at least in most facilities and with most insurance plans in the USA). Jack seemed to hoard food and stress eat (or comfort eat). I won't be surprised, if he has a gambling problem, that he also had a food "problem".
From a pure medical standpoint, his weight is not healthy and he NEEDS to loose weight---straight up medical advice from a physician. Not an opinion but a fact--he is unhealthy at that weight--major risk factor for stroke, heart attack, obstructive sleep apnea, diabetes, etc...
