Nexus 5 - battery life shorter and shorter
I've had my Nexus 5 for 17 months now and still love it. However in the last couple of months the battery has needed charging up to three times a day. It drains very quickly then shuts down - it also charges to 100% suspiciously quickly. Is it time to replace it (I was thinking of a Moto G) or wait until the new Nexius 5 rumoured to be arriving? It's obviously still usable but I have to have a power pack always available. BTW I have turned off Google Now as I read that it uses a lot of power.

The batteries do seem to be going in a lot of Nexus 5's. It's not that hard or expensive to replace the battery yourself it's still a damn good phone in my opinion.

Can get one off Amazon here as it's got good feedback (would not really trust Ebay): http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-BL-T9-Rep...exus+5+battery
How to replace it here: https://www.androidpit.com/how-to-ma...exus-5-battery Mark which one is the old one before taking it out (number of times I've taken something out as a computer engineer and then thought with both identical parts in my hands "which one is the new one" ).Tempted to get another battery for my Galaxy S5 (it's about 15 months old, but think it lasts slightly less than when I bought it). |

I read in another forum that people who replaced their batteries still had the same problem. That's what put me off. I'm not a techie at all and don't think I'd be able to do it myself.

Worth checking in SETTINGS and then under BATTERY to see if there is a certain app that is draining the battery most (usually it should be something like these at the top in whatever order: SCREEN ANDROID OS ANDROID SYSTEM If not it might be even worth doing a FACTORY RESET on the phone as I know sometimes after a software update the phones sometimes need this. |

My Nexus 5 suffered fast battery drain which was down to it connecting to a weak 4G signal rather than a strong 3G signal. Turning off 4G was a temporary fix, but EE have now upgraded the local mast to 4G which has solved the problem.

I've got mine to set to 4G and we haven't got it here. I'll give that a try thanks.

Check for rogue apps. I had similar and finally figured it was "tripadviser," constantly checking for my location !!!!
