ED - April Windsor-Dingle

Is she the best child actress on British TV?

I think she acts the pants of some of the adults on the show. She's very natural as well as being utterly adorable!

Agree, most child actors are annoying but she is very likeable

I think they use the charrcther very manipulative though, oh look how cute Ross is with the child he's a good guy really if you can ignore the cowardly violence, self pity, misogyny and back stabbing.

Absolutely insufferable. No wonder Donna jumped with a daughter like that.

Haha. Let's hope we soon see a recast of Bobs kids to something equally as insufferable to send him the same way as Donna!!

She is brilliant. I really dislike children and find April incredibly likeable.

She's such a great little actress - the scenes with her and Laurel (when Laurel was drunk and shouted at her, and then subsequently passed out) were heartbreaking.

I am stunned that anybody could criticise her!

There is nothing wrong with her acting, in fact, she's one of the best child actors I've seen, and on top of that, she is absolutely gorgeous.

She's great, not sure if I prefer her or Ela-May Demircan who plays Leah in Hollyoaks though as she is also outstanding

She's a good little actress but I find April an annoying character. I liked her when she first came into it but now she's turning into a spoilt brat. Poor little April has lost her mummy and has to have everything her own way all the time. What I found really annoying was when Arthur won a toy at a fair and was told to give it to her because she wanted it. No suggestion by Marlon of them sharing it, she had to have it for herself. My favourite soap child is Samson - a young boy wise beyond his years and with a lovely personality.

Precocious, selfish spoiled brat. Even when Donna was alive.

I don't agree but I guess being raised the way she has, might make a child that way though? She was Donnas world, her only link to her past, and then she gets a terminal illness so the child becomes even more precious. Then her father feels he must make up for lost time by spoiling her with love, affection and his time, which is then heightened even further when her mother dies!

I think any child who's been through what April has would be mostly confused about how to behave.

I agree. April is very cute, but she is being written as a spoilt brat. It will be interesting to see how she develops as she gets older. Arthur is a smashing little chap, who is a natural actor; ditto Samson.

She is delightful and is hardly being written as a spoiled brat when you think what her character has been through. If she carries acting as well as she does now she has a great future, but she is only about 6 so anything could happen.

She wants to get out and do a decent days work, lazy little get. By the time I was her age I was putting food on the table, had a mortgage on a tidy little two bed, two failed marriages, and a couple of kids. About three IIRC.

I know a 6 year old child who's been through a similar experience (father and 10 year old brother killed in a car accident last year). She's a lovely little girl, not always insisting she gets her own way all the time, a joy to be around. Mind you, this is real life and ED is a soap.

It's a sign of the times, J-B. Broken Britain, that's what it is. We're just lucky we still have some solid grafters like you to offset freeloaders like Little April.

We always remark on the casting of children on Emmerdale, they seem to get it right. Eden who plays Belle is another brilliant young lady, it has been lovely to watch her grow.

Love April. I think the standard of the child actors, in general, in Emmerdale, is very high.

There is nothing wrong with April, but everything is wrong with Moron. Making Arthur give up his toy that HE won because "April wants it" made me furious. My ex brother in law tried to do this with my son, he had an a tooth extracted and my mother bought him a toy to compensate. BIL's kid demanded the toy and BIL was quite abusive when I refused.

Arthur and Samson are lovely little boys even if they rarely get a look in with Moron. If I were Laurel there would be fireworks over the way he treats April and Arthur.

PS Actually I would kill Moron v e r y v e r y sl o w l y I detest the long streak of pump water.

I think April is adorable , it's Marlons fault if she's being spoilt. I really like all the child actors in Emmerdale, I love Arthur and Samson especially and are just as good at acting as the little girl who plays April. Noah is good, remember he is growing up so he will be grumpy! Not so keen on Gabby BUT the actress who plays her is brilliant at playing that character.

April's absolutely gorgeous. I specially enjoyed her stuff with Carly actually, I'd like to see more of that, and her relations with Bob.

But I agree that a lot of the kids on ED are good - Belle and Lachlan as teens, Gabby as a scary pre-teen, Arthur and Samson are cuties, Noah is amusingly bratty, I kind of miss "growth spurt" Jakey, Sarah is sweet ... have I missed anybody? Oh, I even like God-botherer Amelia!

I agree, I think Emmerdale has the best child actors, I like them all. I do think they are using April too much, no sign of Arthur in this weeks episodes with Laurel, and why did Arthur not get more scenes with drunk Laurel, its his mum, but its always April. Don't get me wrong, I think she is great but so are the other kids. And where are Bobs' twins? Again, Carly is their half sister, but never been seen with them, but many scenes with April.

I find how Emmerdale present Cathy and Heath odd. A lot of people say on here about how soaps have invisible kids, but surely they must take the prize! Ok, the kids aren't seen all the time, but at least you'd recognise them and know who they are when they do appear. Can't say the same for the twins. It's weird considering Bob and Viv have been long term characters on the show and they've had plenty of opportunity to show random scenes of them with Donna and Carly. I think the last time they were seen is a random time when April was going to her first day at the new school and the Arthur said they'd make sure she was ok and look out for her.

You beat me to it with this one. I really think that Ela-May Demircan is one of the best actors (not just child actors) in soap.

^yes to all of the above! I love that all of the ED children have very distinct personalities, compared to other soaps where they tend to be a generic "child character" (apart from Amy "re-incarnated Blanche" Barlow in Corrie ) until they reach their teens, when they are suddenly re-cast.
