Lost Vodafone mobile - contract

I lost my phone in a taxi last night I contacted Vodafone who have put a block on it. It's not insured. I just wondered what are my options if the taxi firm don't track it down? I'm actually eligible for an upgrade now which I was just about to look into before this happened. If I upgrade is there a block on the number or just that particular handset?

they will have blocked the handset (blacklisted) and barred the SIM. This will not affect your ability to upgrade as you'll probably get a new SIM with your new upgraded phone.

Whether you upgrade or not, Vodafone should be sending you a new sim after deactivating the old one after you report it missing.

If you don't want to upgrade you could always buy a cheap phone to use.

Ahh... welcome to my world, I did the exact same thing last weekend, 1st thing is to come to terms with the fact you'll never see the phone again, 2nd is call the network at cancel the sim and the phone so they are both blocked,so nobody else can use the phone even with a new sim, plus not sure about Vodafone but three say if it's cancelled within 24 hours of the loss your only responsible for up to £100 on the sim, just in case the taxi driver or anyone else does the premium rate scam. 3rd get a new sim from Vodafone, three charged me £5.11 it was active in 10 minutes..
Just remember if the phone wasn't secure to change key passwords, don't want some changing your eBay address and buying a load of goods if you have automatic pay..
It's a crapper loosing your phone but if you've a spare one or lots of money it's not that inconvenient these days..

Thanks for the replies folks, really appreciated. Sounds like it could have been a lot worse, just so frustrating as I really don't know how I left it behind
