How did you discover BB?

By discover - i mean how did you originally find out that there was this show called BB and what was it that made you make that fateful decision to tune in for the very first time

For me, i was reading the paper one day when i came across an article about a new show C4 had just announced. It described the original version shown in Holland and the elements C4 intended to use and i was immediately intrigued, the idea that a bunch of people would be locked up in a house, cut off from the outside world, and be in there 24/7 for weeks on end , performing various tasks and nom'ing each other to face the public vote and one would be voted out each week until one remained to be declared the wnner.... and that they would be filmed 24/7 and there would be several update eps every week, was just unlke anything i had seen before. I think i pretty much made up ,mind there and then that it was something i'd lke to watch. and the subsequent reports that emerged between then and the tv debut did nothing to quell my interest! I got caught up in the hype preceding the first show and that was that.

So i was there for the first ep of the first series and 15 years later i am still here, hard to imagine just what an impact BB has had on me personally over the years not least the amount of people i have "met" on here and elsewhere!

I switched on Channel 4 in the year 2000 and it was on.

I had missed the first few shows, but I was watching a weekly catch up thing.

I remember seeing adverts about a new show and thought I'd give it a go.

It was Big Brother 3 I first properly watched. I do vaguely remember when Big Brother 2 was on the telly but I didn't really see much of that.

unlike some so-called fans on here, like the OP I watched BB from the very beginning back in 2000

reality TV was in its infancy back then and BB was different and unique. It's amazing how much buzz there was about it that year. Everyone was talking about it, even people who generally didn't watch things like that

here's the very first launch show

how strange it looks now

I was only 12/13 and I was switching between channels and this show was on CH4 it looked like CCTV streaming or something... obviously being a naturally nosey bast*rd I had to keep watching... and I haven't really stopped since.

I started watching BB around about episode 4 of the first series, just before Sada's eviction.

Can't remember when I heard about it, but have always been aware of it.
Heard Jedward were going in and tuned in to see how awful they would be, ended up a Jedward fan and a BB fan. Went on line and watched most seasons then.

I was always aware of the show, and thought it sounded like a very interesting concept. It was always CBB I was hearing about, never relly BB even in the C4 days.

One night last Summer there was nothing really on, so jsut tuned into an episode and watched it since then.

Used to call some of my family members for watching it. I mean how sad can you get, watching people in a house doing normal things? Then, one boring Saturday night in 2002 I was flicking through the channels. I put Channel 4 on and watched some people doing a live task where they had to throw a ball into a basketball hoop. For some bizarre reason, it completely hooked me. Watched most of the Channel 4 ones except a few towards the end. Still dip in and out of the occasional series on C5. It has lost its charm but it can still be an entertaining show when they do it right.

There was a giant billboard ad of the BB eye I used to drive past near King's Cross every day prior to BB1 starting. It was a stylish, graphic image that piqued my interest enough to find out what it was. Reading up on it, BB sounded similar to BBC's Castaway which I loved, so I tuned in on the very first night in hope of something as good. I was hooked from the very start.

(My interest has been on the wane for years but finally my addiction is cured now ... the '4 out 4 in' farce followed by the Helen and Marc stint as bunker bullies, along with the frenzied twitter based nastiness, hype and hysteria have all combined as the tipping factor in finally killing off any love I ever felt for the show. I just can't relate to it at all anymore. )

You have to either mention what series you started with or what year it was .

I'm a huge Beyonce fan and I used to devour any news of the Queen B since she blew up in 2003. I seem to vaguely remember the Jade Goody/Shilpa Shetty story in the media but never really bothered to see for myself.
It all began in 2010 when there was news of a Beyonce lookalike all over online UK press. They were talking about Rachel from BB11. I remember seeing pictures of her and she did look a lot like Beyonce so i started watching the series online and was hooked ever since. I remember panicking when they kept saying it was the last series and they were cancelling it. I went backwards and watched every series from 10 till series 4. I tried so hard to push myself to watch the first 3 as well but as with everything that was well before my time its incredibly difficult to sit through. It just feels like sooo long ago that I cant be bothered.

Oh and Rachel was NOTHING like Beyonce

Yep starting watching at the very beginning, did think it would be rubbish but the papers were full of it so got pretty quickly hooked especially with the LF although I watched very little of BB4.
Every summer BB took over my life! Especially message boarding, I can honestly say some of the best laughs I've ever had! Used to look forward to returning posters and the betting and the odds there was a real buzz about the program even at work!

Such a shame it has gone down the pan, it was on the slide before C5 but it still had it's moments, now it's just

BB6. I was 12. Remember seeing the adverts on Channel 4 and thinking, I've heard of this show. Apparently it's really good. I'm going to watch it. And I did!

Looking back, it was so inappropriate for a 12 year old! But never mind.

you had to be there. The early series would seem boring to today's impatient social media generation. But they were infinitely better and more interesting than the travesty BB is today. I wouldn't expect you to understand

and going back and watching old episodes on youtube is NOT the same as watching it first time around when there was 24/7 live feed on a dedicated channel, and a huge amount of national buzz around the show.

I remember the launch day of BB1 very well. I would've been 8yrs old at the time. I was travelling down to Manchester with my mum to see some family and I remember billboards of a pair of eyes being all over Waverley Train Station in Edinburgh. There were loads of them. Then we got to Manchester about 8pm or so and my dad picked us up. We drove past a huge screen broadcasting footage of people in a house (it was Nichola on the screen) with the same set of eyes on a billboard above the screen. When we got to my family's house, me and my cousin put on the TV and I was saying "I just saw this on a big screen!" and I've watched every single episode since. To be fair, it was probably BB5 before I realised what I was actually watching.

My sister in law was never into BB and she came and stayed for a week, of course I was glued to the screen
That was BB5 and I had to explain all about the nasty Jungle Prats and who was a saint and a sinner
My SIL ended up very hooked and every Friday night having Eviction Night parties with all her mates
