Obviously now, with online auditions, they can't really use home camera/webcam quality clips for the HMs' VTs. But the C4 VTs, with the black background, did they use the audition session footage?

I think few housemates are drawn from actual applications.
Most of them seem to come from talent and TV extra agencies. Or are friends of other 'celebs' - showbiz party hangers-ons, etc.
Yes, I do miss the auditions. At one time there was a whole programme showing the auditions that prospective HMs sent in. Some were so bizarre. So many wanted to join, but now, as another FM says, it is all 'who you know'.......so it cannot possibly be the old BB as we know it.
Exactly. 90% of housemates now will always be people who are -
A) signed to an agency
B) already known in "the biz" (however minor)
C) already have some link to reality tv
D) be friends with other z list celebs
E) have some crappy claim to fame on twitter

They were in BB3. I can't remember after that though.
