Do you like Claudette or are you indifferent to her? Apparently she's a new matriarch but she's not exactly nice is she? I don't think Ellen Thomas is a great actress but what are your opinions on her?
Completely indifferent. She does seem quite nasty and unpleasant, which in theory means she's right up my alley due to the nasty, horrible characters being my absolute all time favourites.
She was hilarious in Teachers. I absolutely loved her in that. In Eastenders, however, she's a bit desperate. She tries to do this seductive thing which I think is meant to be her way of showing that she's an authoritative figure but it just doesn't work.

Glad you mentioned Teachers. Hard to believe Rick Grimes was on it!
Her roles have been so, so varied that I'm staggered anyone can even think of calling her 'terrible'. As most of us know, there's a whole raft of actors who essentially play a variation on the same character in everything they do. Not Ellen.
I particularly enjoyed her in teachers as the power-hungry and meddling Liz.

Matriarchs don't have to be nice. Look at Peggy, she could be absolutely vile. I am with JB, the nasty characters can b the most entertaining.
I think once Ellen has filmed a lot more scenes the character will feel more fleshed out. I just feel at the moment that Ellen isnt making the character as real as she should be.
