Blocked Phone/Insurance Payout

About 5 months ago I made an insurance claim for a lost iPhone & was sent a replacement without any issues. I moved to a new flat last week & found my 'lost' phone whilst packing up.

At the time I contacted '3' to have the handset barred - which it still is.

I'm presuming that the phone is the property of the insurance company who supplied my replacement.

I presume '3' would unblock the phone upon receipt of proof that it's mine, which I have - would they alert the insurance company that I have had it unblocked?

I wouldn't dream of selling it on for fear of causing the buyer future issues, but it would be nice to have it as a 2nd/back up handset.

Please can anyone advise?

The insurance company will have registered against the IMEI that the handset is the subject of an insurance claim.

Just let them know it's been found.

You should contact the insurance company and tell them you have found it, ask them what to do with it.

Might just leave it as lost then - worried about insurance company wanting pay-back for new phone if I tell them old one is found

Thanks

It looks like someone with common sense has had a clean up of the thread if anyone thinks Ash45's post is random.

A numpty made a stupid suggestion that thankfully has been removed by DS.
