Getting Infinity 1 tomorrow

I will miss my 5MB ADSL

What download speed should I get on a laptop connected wirelessly? 38/8 MB?

Also what band do use 2G or 5G, very confusing

Any help appreciated

The initial download to the Hub will remain the same. What you get at your laptop will depend on your location in relation to the Hub, the capability of the network card in your laptop and whether you get interference from other equipment such as neighbours hubs.

The 2.4 Ghz band is generally stronger over distance and the 5 Ghz band is better over short distance. Assuming the network card in your laptop is capable of operating on both bands then it will be trial and error to see which is best in your location.

The HH5 is a dual band router and on delivery is probably setup to operate both wifi bands together. It has been shown that it is best to separate them and give each band a separate SSID. It has also been shown that it is best to turn off the default Smart Setup option. You will find all the information on how to do this on BT's own forums:

I get about 35 meg over wifi and always 37 to 38 direct.
The hub 5 comes with both 2.4 Ghz & 5 so you can pick though very few devices have 5g with mine only being my LG G3.
It depends do you know how far away your green box is?
If is in the same round it should be pretty fast.

Without knowing anything about your laptop and what WiFi card it has on-board that is an impossible question to answer.

An old laptop with a 802.11G only WiFi card will max out at mid 20s Mb/s regardless of how fast your broadband connection is because that is as fast as 802.11G standard can go. To go any faster would need at least an 802.11N standard card.

Similarly no point discussing 5GHz operation if your laptop WiFi is fixed to 2.4GHz

So to provide any sort of decent answer you need to tell us what make and model of laptop you have and if possible what WiFi card it has on-board. If you don't know the specs of the WiFi card then something like Piraform Speccy may be able to provide the relevant details

Just download the free version.
