It's getting to that time of the year again.

I think it's meant to be next week that we get to start seeing some new phones announced, according to the rumour websites.

The ones I am most interested to see will be the Nexus 5 2015 and the One plus 2 - both sound like they could be amazing phones.

What phone are you interested in seeing launched?

Oneplus Two 27/7/15
Moto X 2015 28/7/15
Xiaomi Mi 5 5/8/15
Nexus 5 2015 Autumn

I'm not as interested as I would be in years gone by as phones are becoming more similar and most of the information has already leaked. I am looking forward to USB type C on the nexus 5 though as I believe it will be the full USB 3.0 implementation of it with slimport etc.

OnePlus 2 and (hopefully) the 5.7" screen Nexus. I wouldn't wat to downgrade to a 5" Nexus. And maybe Motorola will pull it out of the bag and release Moto X with a decent size screen.

Well for most people 5.2" is adequate isn't it? I'm hopeing for a 5.2" Moto X 2015 and a 5.5" Moto X Sport.

Yes the Nexus is still a while away really and could in theory be up staged by all these new phones. It really seems like its either top end with Apple or Samsung or the rest are all similar in spec and price

Yes 27/7/15. Nothing particularly special, Snapdragon 410, 2GB RAM on the 16GB model, 13MP/5MP camera, probably waterproof.

ive had the original moto g forever , love it,,,,,,,, the only thing it doesn't do is micro hdmi out so i cant take it to my (no internet , elderly ) parents once a week and showbox/netflix a film for them to watch on their big tv.

i dont think theres a workaround ,,,,,,,,, other than buying a new phone

will the newer moto g support this feature ?

or am i better off looking on gumtree for a galaxy s2/3 on the cheap ?

Most midrange phones don't contain slimport/mhl chips to keep the cost down. If I'm not mistaken you can Chromecast local content without the need for an internet connection, you just tether the Chromecast from the phone.

No those specs look all wrong to me, probably just a placeholder from a leak early this year.

Sony Z5C will be interesting but I'm not sure what will be an improvement other than a complete redesign. Snapdragon 810 will spoil it and it is probably too soon for Snapdragon 820. The screen size is about right and if they make that FHD that is probably just going to waste power and deliver no noticeable gain.

The next Nexus device. There are rumours that two will be launched at the same time.

A Nexus 5 successor and a Nexus 6 successor.

Battery doesn't look very big either ... if correct?

Waiting to see if it's announced and what the new Moto X might be later this month. I'd like to see a bigger battery and a brighter display and the same 5.2" ...... and a sale soon after release

Here's the Oneplus Two
http://www.phonearena.com/news/OnePl...ctures_id71798
So a metal frame but the same usual swappable covers with similar options as last year, dual sim under back cover.
Laser auto focus, dual led flash.
Fingerprint scanner on the front.

Many reports of at least two variant Moto 3G (XT1550), one with 1GB and one with 2GB RAM. Less than a week to go before announcements in New Delhi, Sao Paulo, New York and London. IPX7 certification, that has to be with dropping it down the toilet more than underwater photography?

A cheap second hand Hudl is another possibility. Or even a new one for £99. Both will have mini hdmi sockets.

I've heard it might be the 610 clocked 1.7 GHz. If Tesco mobile sell it, I might be tempted to upgrade early in Dec/Jan time.

Just seen the VF Smart Ultra 6 and the EE Harrier in person. Both actually look good bits of kit for the price.

Does anyone known if they can be unlocked? If so they could be a really good buy. That said Wow how big is that Smart Ultra 6 screen!

EDIT- Technically just launched... and not a new upcoming release.

Alcatel Idol 3 5.5" Dual SIM 32Gb ~ 300 Euro. I'm a big fan of dual SIM phones.

With the exchange rate this is about £220 from Amazon.de. Reviews say it's a good mid price spec'd phone. Runs 5.0.2 but it will be updated to 5.1.

I'd be interested to see how it stands against the Moto G dual SIM variants that will appear later this year.

Not compared to the other devices being talked about, but in reality will be a bloody good phone for a significant percentage of mobile users who will be more than happy*, and only have to pay around £150-160 (I'm guessing, but going by earlier models - Edit: No, seems it might be a bit more - but we've been surprised before when rumours suggested a higher price than Motorola announced on the day - almost as if it leaked false information deliberately to get people in the room going 'Wow' and having something to Tweet as breaking news).

I do hope the new Moto X (or Xs) will be good though. I liked the Nexus 6 more than the X 2014, so the 2015 model should be a step up (maybe not screen size, but everything else).

* I do think there's a perception issue where some people assume the Moto G simply can't be any good for the money, so buy something more expensive anyway.

I'm not knocking the moto g I've recommended it to countless people on a budget, but what does this years moto g bring that previous years ones haven't? If the 2GB version is indeed Snapdragon 610 with a FHD display then that will be a good improvement but otherwise it brings a small processor upgrade, camera upgrade, waterproofing and an improved design. If the Moto G 2014 falls in price significantly after the release of this years Moto G I will be more inclined to advise people to purchase the 2014 model than this years model.

Again with the new Moto X's I'm not sure whether the improvements will be worth the money. I like the look of the Moto X sport but I can see the regular Moto X being similar to that of the G Flex 2, M9 and Z3+ where minor improvements have been made but Snapdragon 810 ruins it.
I hope I am wrong, the Moto X was my primary phone for most of this year and I loved the design but with features like VoLTE, VoWiFi not likely to come to the Moto X 2015 I think I will look elsewhere this year.

Definitely think I see this a lot with people who just use their phone for the basics. There seems to be this 'magic threshold' where if it didn't cost at least x amount, then it must be useless.
