Could the Z5 Prime use this?

http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-...isplay-1290841

And is it a true low power sunlight readable transflective display like on the SW3 ?

Does anyone know if any of the cheap Chinese imports are compatible with 800mhz?
I've been looking at phones such as the xiaomi redmi note 2 and meizu mx5 but none have the 800mhz 4g band.

I'd imagine most cheap Chinese phones from now on would support Band 20/800?

Chinese phones with international release yes.
Most Chinese phones sold exclusively in Asia and India still only seem to support Bands 1/3/7/38/39/40/41

Honestly Sony, why the need for the Z5 premium. Surely that is just going to be slated by reviewers when it gets released in November, by which time most will have forgotten about it.

It sounds very similar to the Sharp display tech, and it turns out that the Z3 already has it.
Thus 4K stills and static web pages need no CPU refresh.
Sony are touting the 4K screen as complimenting the 4K video recording.

Their new 23MP camera module is a Sony exclusive, at least until someone agrees to pay the asking rate I bet.

Why do consumers need 4K upscaling when consumers can't even see pixels on QHD displays?
And the Snapdragon 810 paired with a 4K display, recipe for disaster?
I really think Sony are being silly here, they need a change to omnidesign and better marketing, not bringing out a phone with a 4K display which even Samsung haven't tried yet.

A much better announcement from IFA was the Huawei Mate S Force Touch edition, integrated properly could be much more useful than a curved or ultra HD display.

The maximum viewable is 900 dpi supposedy, though if you move the screen close, it must be way way higher.

Lets face it, you are not going to scrutinse your 4K takes at arms length on a tiny 5.5" screen.

The cynic in me says it's only exclusive because the Z5 was announced after the Note 5/S6 Edge+ etc.
If the Z5 had been unveiled a couple of months ago, it probably wouldn't still be 'exclusive' by now.

The only argument in favour of 4K must be VR-related (other than the obvious marketing/fanfare boost) - maybe they're planning on bringing out a mobile VR headset similar to Samsung?

But I can't help but agree that attaching it to an 810 SoC seems to be begging for trouble.

The 810 is 20nm whilst the Z3 chip was 28nm.
For 4K recording I cannot see it being any warmer than the Z3.

Sony cheaped out on the SOC but choices were likely constrained too, that new Mediatek X20 chip sounding the most suited, but it ain't here yet. Sony being audio specialists will love the X20 11th core, that being an audio core for standby power level mp3 playback.

The newer model has a finger-print sensor, doesn't need a cover for the USB port, has a less slippery back, 8 cores rather than 4, a better pair of cameras, and is generally better in every way, apparently.

I'm a bit annoyed because I'd given up waiting and got a Z3C last month, but since I've been pleased with it I'll try not to let the new one bother me. I don't care about the finger print sensor (and don't trust it), and with a magnetic charger the USB port cover doesn't matter either.

I spent ages trying to figure out what the difference between the two versions of the Z5C are (E5803/E5823), only to find out one does cat 4 and one does cat 6.

Now I read today, there's a Z5C Premium but only for Japan. 1080p display, 4GB RAM 2,900 mAh battery.

You can't help thinking most of these phone companies making good mid range / top kit are really cocking up on supply.

They are missing that first hype stage and without that I bet sales are much slower. The Moto x Style is now in manager of being lost with the new iphone. The oneplus2 has been long lost and forgotten.

I notice the Samsung edge + is now out and how long until a few drops in price make that more popular with non apple fans. Also the new Nexus is meant to be due at some point.

It's a shame that not all phone release dates can be international, but I'd much prefer that than a phone only being in stock for one hour before selling out.

The Moto X Style could do with some more advertising outside of America, I expect it may do well in the US but selling directly to consumers in the EU just won't cut it I don't think. It should be out around the
14th so the iPhone won't do too much damage.
I also wouldn't say the OnePlus 2 has been forgotten about, 3 of my friends want one, one has managed to get an invite the official way.

Yes the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6 are due out September 29th, Nexus 5X 16GB shouldn't cost much more than £300.

Sony has now set realistic pre-order prices.
Z5 premium £629, Z5 £549 and Z5 compact £429.

They all seem to use that new Sony 23MP ultra fast focus camera.

That's better than £699 for the Premium.

I am not sure when the Premium will actually come out though. It's been said 'from October' but given the lack of devices at IFA and Amazon saying December, plus no networks taking it in the UK that I am aware of (just the Z5 and Z5C) it seems like it's going to be a very limited edition.

I used all three at the show and the Z5 Premium is a very nice phone. Feels fast, has apparently dealt with the heat issue very effectively, and looks nice - until you flip it over where the mirrored back is, well, hideous (subjective opinion!). Full of finger marks, such that they were cleaning it every time you handed it back, and reflecting light all over the place. Use that outdoors on a sunny day and you'll blind people!

And the Z5C looks crazy as the design makes it look so thick. No chance of bending though.

Seems to me the Z5 is the only one worth buying, but taking some photos and zooming in to 100%, there's still a high level of noise. I am not convinced the 23MP sensor is actually better than the camera in the G4. It's clearly not bad, and nobody is likely to be disappointed with it, or the 0.03 second focus time, but it isn't a massive leap.

Still waiting for a phone to be announced that ticks ALL the boxes.
