I looked at the OnePlus3T but the (relatively) low-res screen put me off (its quite low if you plan to play with VR.

As a long-term Nexus owner I was looking forward to the Pixel however, whilst its a reasonable phone, I dont think its good value for money. To try and compete with Samsung S7 prices it really needs to have waterproofing.

So having looked at other options Ive ended up (this week) with a ZTE Axon 7. Fantastic value for money. Bought from amazon.de (and confirmed that the warranty is Europe-wide). Great spec (for the money) and a great "VIP" warranty. Worth a look at if you are looking at new phones. My Daughter now wants one too.

Yes, the ZTE Axon 7 looks a cracking VR option as well as being a beast of a phone at a great price.

Nice looking phone too. They all seem to be putting a big button on the back now.

The "button" on the back is actually a recessed fingerprint reader. Its a very sturdy phone - designed by BMW in the US apparently ??

I see. The Google Pixel XL has that fingerprint reader on the back also. And I think the Xiaomi Mi Max.

it seems that half the phones have it on the front and half on the back. i can see pros and cons to each to be honest.

I did wonder about waiting for the xiaomi Mi MIX (not the max) but i suspect there is a whole load of new tech in there (it seems China is leading innovation these days) that might be better off with a wait for second generation....

Hard to tell. The Mi Mix is getting great reviews. Some YT reviewers are saying it's the best Android phone on the market.

It looks stunning. I do wonder how well the "resonating" speaker will last, and how easy it would be to use once you have a cover on (with the lack of bezels) or how breakable it would be without a cover on. I'm also not sure how the radios would suit the UK market on the chinese imports, and how any warranty would work, and how feasible repairs would be ....

I was very tempted though - its very pretty

Some people on here posted that the warranty could be an issue.

New Honor phone coming Jan 3rd or 4th. New HTC phones (3 models?) on Jan 12th.

Plus whatever is at CES next week.

An early start, although I fear some of the new stuff is going to be a bit 'meh' for many.

I also see that some phones I'd consider low to mid range are coming at higher prices. Seems 2017 may well see prices creeping up across the board, even on the Chinese phones we'll be able to buy on Amazon.
