for nostalgia reasons

But seeing the simplicity of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7PzZUrnNuk and how well it all worked, compared to what we've just been subjected to, makes me really bloody angry.

By the way, Bubble seems cool, hope he wins.

Nah, I'm only on day 4, she saves that for much later on, I think Stuart and Amma haven't even had their fight yet!

Edit - I can't remember, did they have the pysch inserts on every show, or just once a week?

Hmm can't recall that one right now but I do remember them doing it.
Penny the teacher was a bit of strange one.

She's wired to the moon (in this, probably not now in real life, I'm sure she's lovely), but I don't think there's any harm in her

Penny was wonderfully loony, yet quite endearing at the same time.

I may have a rewatch myself. I was so into it then, I even bought the book of that year.

It would be nice to recall a BB time when it wasn't full of wannabes and those recruited by the producers as 'characters'. They actually had open auditions then for real people. Seems a world away from how it is nowadays.

I had this http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTYwMFgxMjAw/z/0KQAAOSwcwhVNBfd/$_35.JPG
I had genuinely forgotten how much they all laughed at and with each other. It's lovely.

Edit - for crying out loud, I can't get the link to work It's the uncut bits on VHS

I think BB has had three evolution's... 1-4, 5-11, 12-16.

Watching one of the first four series' is seriously odd in comparison to what we have now.

Dean was in charge of that house.

As I'm watching, Paul has hurt his ankle and a doctor is in the diary room talking to him. And it's being shown. That would never happen now, everything is secret and hidden and shit. I'm not saying we should see them in the toilet or anything, but the amount of stuff that comes out after the shows now tells us a lot.

After a while they could be annoying to watch at times. But that goes for almost any long stay housemate.

I actually thought this year had decent casting. There were quite a lot of normal people and a pretty diverse mix. It was the only thing they did right, but I'd say they did well at it.

Of course, that makes the series even worse in hindsight, because they came so close to having a really good series. They had a great group of people who were making for a really nice old-school series, and then they spoiled it. I felt cheated, I was really enjoying the House and looking forward to seeing how certain people would do. That's what Big Brother should be about.

Personally, I think the evolutions are 1-3, 4, 5-7, 8-11, 12-16.

1-3 - relatively normal housemates cast with a steady build up of drama and story. Promotes itself as a social experiment.
4 - stands on its own as it's the only series that intentionally regressed or went ''back to basics''. The problem is, you can never go back.
5-7 - the golden era for most. big cartoonish characters, drama and tension throughout.
8-11 - still trying to be 5-7 but slowly swimming against a wave of political correctness
12-16 - still with the setbacks faced during 8-11 it now evolves solely into an entertainment show

Stuart just said he'd sleep with everyone but Penny, she swore at him and now she's having to apologise for everything

Oh, I wish they'd go back to this style of BB. I wish so much.

I'm sorry, I hope I'm not spamming here but Narinder has just said "I wonder which celebrity guys are watching and saying 'I love that Narinder'?" and Brian said "Stevie Wonder?"

The psychs were on a few times on each of the Sunday night HL shows.

Dean was probably the first dad of the house. Brian and Helen sort of looked up to him in that respect.

I wish this too. It was a joy to watch. People usually say that BB5-BB7 is their favourite era of BB, but my favourite is BB1-BB4 by far.

I rewatched BB2 last year and I felt the same. I loved this style of BB. It was enjoyable, entertaining and very professional. I don't know if you're watching BBLB with it, but that was entertaining and professional too. Compared to how BOTS is, the whole show was unbiased with no favouritism and it was very interesting to see how everything worked. Another thing worth pointing out is during one of the early BBLBs for this series, two of the producers are on the show answering viewers' questions. They are asked if they cast people who they think will clash together and they said that they cast peope who they will naturally get along with each other. This is a direct contrast to today's BB.

The final itself had a very uplifting feel to it. It felt very much like a celebration of the whole series with everyone coming together to celebrate the end of the series.

ABCZYX, I'm not watching BBLB, mainly because I didn't know they were on youtube! I've just been powering through the highlights shows...I'm up to Josh's 2nd day in the house. Gosh he was fit!

I based the three on,

- Series' 1-4 were centered around the housemates and their interactions - above all else.

- 5-11, the show seemed to focus more on twists and how far they could manipulate the show.

- 12-16 more and more contestants have showbiz connections and thus the complete antithesis of where the show began.

BB1-BB4 classic format with normal people allowed to grow and interract as a social experiement.

BB5-BB7 classic format with big colourful and provactative characters put in the house instead of "normal people". Some would say this was the best mix for BB.

BB8-BB11 starting to become very, very scripted and too many twists

BB12-present day is no longer Big Brother. The fundamental elements of the game have been removed and the diary room is no longer sacred.
