Hello.
long time since I posted anything.
My partner and I both love podcasts and are both paying for Google Play Music streaming/download service.
We also like talking books and make use of our local library's talkling book/playaway & e-book services.
I've looked at the basic monthy subscription plan to Audible (an Amazon company).
It seems to offer , for £7.99/month, one audio book, and discount if you buy an audio book (to download?).
I cannot seem to see if the service allows streaming (WiFi/LTE) services. ie I could listen to a book without having to buy it and download it - seems a bit rubbish compared to Google Play Music, where you can stream, pin or buy.
So, am I missing the 'streaming' bit? Amazon Prime Video seems to allow streaming.
cheers, @DavyPaul

Can you clarify what you mean by streaming. It's just you seem to be talking about Prime Video and Google Play music so it seems what you are asking for is an All you can eat On Demand subscription service for Audiobooks rather than specifically the ability to stream.

If you want that you need Amazons Kindle Unlimited which for a monthly fee you can unlimited access to 'borrow' unlimited kindle e-books and Audiobooks. The selection however is more limited than Audible because they obviously don't get access to the latest releases.

You need to ask yourself though how many audiobooks would you consume in a month. The shortest book in my collection is 6 hours and longest is 11 hours so that's a fair chunk of time so for many people a single book may last them a full month.

What the Audible subscription gets you for £7.99 is 1 credit a month (or 2 credits for 14.99 or you can buy a years worth in advance and get a further discount and get all your credits upfront). if you don't use your credits they stack up so you don't lose them. A book costs a credit. They do need to download to the device I believe but with an audiobook it's probably better anyway rather than have to rely on a mobile connection.

So if you want newer titles and you would listen to only 1 (or 2 if you go to the 2 credit package) in a month then Audible is the better bet. If you aren't bothered about new titles and a smaller selection (and if you have a Kindle e-reader as well) then Kindle Unlimited may be better for you

Scribd is the best option IMO.

$8.99 if you pay monthly or only $3.99 a month if you pay yearly

http://www.scribd.com/archive/plans

They have over 45,000 audiobook titles and recently added 9,000 by signing a deal with Penguin Random House: http://www.theverge.com/2015/4/16/84...n-random-house

And of course you also get access to 1,000,000 Ebooks and 60 million documents (I got that off Wiki!)

The problem with Scribed is those figures are the US figures. UK subscribers get a tiny amount of those titles

Same solution we use for Netflix would negate that issue...
