what Liz did to Tony tonight was exactly the same as what Kirsty was doing to Tyrone a few years ago yet Kirsty was portrayed as a villain for hitting Tyrone, yet we are supposed to be cheering on "feisty" Liz, i see no difference in the two situations, assault is assault. complete double standards from Corrie.

Tyrone didn't deserve his constant beatings.

A lying scumbag like Tony deserves a bit of a smack.

I do believe Tony was genuinely sorry this time, maybe I'm naive !?

Tyrone was cheating on Kirsty with Fiz.

Not really cheating but finding comfort with her AFTER he'd put up with months of being smacked around.

I thought it was interesting that it happened whilst Leanne was getting smacked around by Dan and then Simon. Surely the writers saw how wrong it was to allow Liz to hit Tony like that with no consequences. Didn't Jim used to have a violent temper as well

I don't recall watching during that storyline so can't comment.

But then I also don't recall saying that cheating was a reason for hitting someone, Tony's done a hell of a lot more than that.

It wasn't the same at all. What Kirsty did to Tyrone was abuse. A couple of feeble punches to the back from Liz isn't going to hurt Tony. He had it coming anyway. Was Steve wrong for nearly going for him on Monday, until whoever it was held him back?

Liz is now a sociopath thus it is hard to feel sorry for her.

I was keen to see a Liz/Tony confrontation around the time of the affair reveal but all these weeks later I just don't care anymore. The scenes were flat imo.

Not helped by Bev Callard's dreadful acting. What the hell is going on there?! Has she really had that much Botox that she can barely move her face anymore?

Botox?

She needs a refund then because half her face is hanging off her chin.

If someone laid a finger on one of my family members they'd deserve a ruddy beating from me.

She was beating him before that.

Or maybe you are deliberately overlooked that fact.

Does it matter Surely no one on here is condoning violence Unless it's someone we hate of course

I do get what Claire is coming from, just that the abuse didn't start because of the affair.

Liz is a vile individual. She seemed content with her son basically being treated like dirt by Miss Hell, but dishes out criticisms to Dan and ruins his life.

If sleeping around meant that you deserved violent acts to be done to you then surely Leanne deserves everything that she gets from Dan. If Gary is to hit Alya when he discovers that she cheated (because this is a soap and of course they'll find out) then there would be an uproar but oh no, a woman hitting a guy is perfectly acceptable as long as it isn't Tyrone.

It's a weird thing for even the current corrie team to condone, especially with what's going on with Leanne right now.

I think Tony could easily have stopped Liz's assault if he'd had a mind to, but I'm not sure Tyrone could have done the same with Kirsty, and they were living together and were more tied.

He had it coming? You wouldn't be saying that if a woman was the cheater and she was being hit by her boyfriend or husband. Double standards in society now is rather shocking to me.
