Having watched the series again recently, there was no doubt she was bullied, I mean the part where George and Michael accused her of 'enveloping Chantelle in her web of darkness and depravity' or something to that effect was so ott! (what a great series though, that was near enough to the actual quote!)

But at the same time....when I watched I was like, she so brings it all on herself! I mean the whole I am a victim, the media portray me as a whore etc, yet at the same time in the house all she spoke of was orgies, big d!cks, kissing women etc, no wonder they got annoyed with her - she was a total hypocrite and that is unappealing.

What did folks think? Was she bullied? Did she deserve it?

She was bullied a bit. The likes of Pete/George/Michael didn't like her or give her a chance really and they were pretty malicious in the way they spoke to her. I felt bad for her because she's just one of those people who isn't bright enough to know when you're unintentionally annoying someone by being around.

I think George described her as a "troublesome element in the house" which is pretty rich if you ask me. Sure Jodie did things that called for criticism but in that house of lunatics I would say her loudness and crudeness was on the very mild end of the spectrum.

Well, she had no choice, she was sharing a house with all of them! LOL

I think she was bullied horrendously. They never gave her a break, they loved having someone to bitch about.

She was absolutely bullied. There was one night where Barrymore and Pete just ripped apart everything about her to her face...even down to how she sat! It was downplayed on the highlights but I remember watching it on the LF and it was really unfair the way she was treated.

She was certainly bullied, but what made it worse was the public sticking the knife in

I think it was a slightly different era (I hope), where it was more acceptable for females in the British media to be relentlessly targeted, criticised and generally hated

Perhaps with the News of the World going down, and the rise of new feminism, we see this kind of behaviour in a slightly more sane light

Jodie marsh is an idiot but she was bullied no question there. That is wrong !
However that aside can I just say that particular CBB was my favorite of any CBB or normal BB. Perfect cast!

Jodie Marsh is unfortunately her own worst enemy. She is a very intelligent girl who is actually charming and witty but she has this absolutely desperate need to be the centre of attention which makes her an easy target for a horrible pig like Pete Burns.

As I remember I do think she was bullied. Unfortunately as she wasn't/isn't a very likeable character it appears that no one was terribly bothered by it. There was a lot of very nasty/bullying behaviour altogether in that particular BB. I remember Pete Burns being very spiteful to Tracey (Baywatch) that was pretty horrible to watch too.

Thinking about it now - they were a nasty bunch in there weren't they? It was kind of compelling viewing though.

Just to add - Jodie Marsh's voice absolutely drives me mad - from a really shallow perspective I think that sort of added to her dislikeability. Was OFCOM around in those days?

It's not really surprising that we have no LF now - a bloody shame though - it was a pretty sadistic/torturous way of whiling away the hours watching that particular BB.

It's funny reading people's comments on this thread with pretty much everyone agreeing that she was bullied. At the time this forum was out for Jodie's blood. She was hated. I think she was without a doubt bullied. She wasn't perfect, no. What was very telling though was that the ones who were bullying her and picking her apart (Barrymore, Pete Burns, Galloway), had a hell of a lot of issues themselves and were very far from perfect. At worst Jodie was a bit of a hypocrite. She wasn't a nasty, horrible person yet the actual bullies were. If Jodie was in one of today's CBB series then she'd probably have faired a lot better.

YES. Marsh was treated horribly. Pete also bullied the baywatch vixen.

Now even if anyone on here was a fan of him, I doubt they could deny that that was quite likely the nastiest thing ever said in the big brother house. The problem with Pete Burns is how intimidated everyone appears to be by him. I yearned for someone from that series to tell him that he was a useless 80's has been tosspot but it sadly never happened...

That's how I remember it too. Quite shocking viewing at times, I felt.

She struck me as being a bit like Sam from BB6, in that she didn't seem to be able to interact with the male HM's on anything other than a sexual level - and when they include Pete Burns, Michael Barrymore, George Galloway and Dennis Rodman it's never going to end well.

I agree with all that you say about Jodie. The need for attention so badly mean't she mixed with the big boys and got burnt. As horrid as they were especially Pete.

I don't think she could help it though, she seems to be one of those people who thinks over-compensation in everything will get her more back in return. Jodie should remember that sometimes less is more. All about confidence I guess?

It's a long time ago, but if I recall correctly Jodie had been something of a bully herself prior to her CBB stint which somewhat diminished any sympathy people may have had for her.

During her time in the house she was loud and obnoxious but never vindictive or malicious so by the time Pete Burns and his cabal had their claws out for her I think I had garnered a little sympathy for her. But not much. I did think their behaviour reflected much worse on them - a group of mature men picking 3 to 1 on a young, insecure, damaged woman - than on Jodie. Or the 'Marsh Monster' as some on here were wont to call her.

I'm also a different person now and now see Jodie then more a flawed & vulnerable person craving acceptance from anyone by any means. As such I would have more sympathy for her and certainly see what occurred in the house as bullying.

I still see Pete's Cabal as a bunch of bitter old has-beens.

And Pete's treatment of that poor American girl was unconscionable. She was a bit bland but sweet and lovely. Pete deciding her sweetness and niceness was 'fake' says more about him than her.

But who had the last laugh?

Barrymore's career never re-emerged. Galloway continues to face scandal & lost his seat in the last election. Pete Burns is still Pete Burns.

Jodie? Making reasonably well respected documentaries (Jodie Marsh On) and a fair show at bodybuilding. She has certainly moved on a lot further & developed more than the cabal.

Now she's stopped inviting men to take her up the Aisle

Jodie did get treated badly, however from the off she did constantly talk about sex and you could see she made others uncomfortable... after Pete/Michael/George turned on her she basically lived in her PJ's and stayed in bed all day.

I absolutely felt she was bullied. I can see the "brings it on herself argument" but really nothing she did deserved that treatment especially as I felt she really tried her hardest to get on with them, and then just tried to stay away from them and have fun with Chantelle.

Iirc despite being evicted she got quite a kind reaction from the crowd.

No, that's just victim blaming. Nobody deserves to be bullied just for being loud or annoying.

Arguably nobody should have to tolerate Pete Burns. If he doesn't tolerate fools then he must have no tolerance for himself.

Yea you are right there, and on the day of eviction she was wearing a hoodie and combats, and Pete pulled her up on it and said why she wasnt glammed up. Her reply was she wears clothes like that all the time - it was like she wants to be seen as the casual girl in hoodie and combats but when she was like that it clearly wasnt her as she was clearly depressed!

I hope she is happy in herself now, because more than anything she seemed very unhappy in herself, and ott sexulisation of herself was a way to get attention desperately

Pete Waterman IS a genius. You might not like his work but you cant deny his talent?
