I'm sure back in 2006 when Ian went to South Africa he saw Kathy's body. There was a funeral. What about Ben? how will this be all explained. What about Gavins sister too. She made the phone call to Jane. Surely Ian who travelled must have wanted to see his mums body. This why this storyline doesnt make any sense from the start.

I can't remember the details, but Ian never identified a body. Nobody in the show saw Kathy after her death.

I was trying to find clips of these episodes on YouTube but could only find Phil threatening to shove Ian's head in a cake in front of the first incarnation of Ben

I'm assuming Ben wasn't with them when the car supposedly crashed.

Ian did fly back South Africa to collect Ben and identify the body but I believe Gavin's sister identified them and buried them (why Ian let her organise his mothers funeral without his saying is a bit odd).

Anyway I'm sure we'll get some more info in the coming weeks when we find out what Kathy has been up to.

There are three things that I want to see.

1 - An Explanation
2 - Decent Aftermath
3 - Decent Shock Reveal face to face - i.e not Ian finding out then seeing her in person. If I am being honest it is the immediate aftermath I am interested in.

Correct. In a conversation between Ian and Jane the day after they learned of Kathy's death it was mentioned that Gavin's sister identified her body. I remember thinking at the time that it was a bit suspicious and expected Kathy to be revealed as alive after all and return. Ian went over to South Africa to attend the funeral and bring Ben back to London he did not identify the body.

As others have said Ian didn't identify the body and Ben wasn't in the car when it crashed.

One or two will claim otherwise because they either have a weird vendetta against Kathy as she is the love of Phil's life and they want him to stay with Sharon or because they dislike DTC and must disagree with every decision he makes. Or both.

Is there a vid somewhere on YT where Ian finds out about Kathy's "death"?

I was looking for his but couldn't find anything. There seem to be a lot more Corrie episodes than eastenders episodes on YouTube for some reason
